Need help decoding serial number.
SN= 340484. Labeled as pro boss. In a 1994 ski nautique but previous owner stated that engine had been redone. So trying to figure out exactly what I have.   Hr meter has 125hrs.
Also engine runs rough at low idle?

Thx for help
Dan

Unfortunately the number does not tell you anything,it's the prefix that has the info. Here are two examples below, top one is a early 80's PCM tag bottom one a mid 90's one. It's the model number you need to tell what the original spec engine is. Any modifications done after it left the factory like an overbore, cam change, distributor upgrade etc won't be on there.
