Don't underestimate me Tim. I actually missed White Lake last year. Had fun with several attendees the day before at Greg's then passed on heading down to white lake the next day because,,,,well, just because.

I was actually considering it for the first time, but April. Has the lake thawed out by then??
Will there be another event towards the Left Coast? NC is a long drive from California.

I realize you are likely kidding, but the lakes in North Carolina do not freeze. You can get some ice in the back corners of some coves but it is very thin. The water temps for this date are cool to cold, but it does not stop the majority of us from enjoying the water and water sports. A lot of the event is about seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Also, enjoying and testing driving other CC Boats.

However, we do have 4 inches of snow today and there is no bread or milk available in both Carolinas today.

Don,
Understand that Donalds statement is open to interpretation and pretty much determined by where the person lives. As an example, this water is not cool or cold to some:

There are even some who can't make it to annual new years barefoot runs due to the supposed cold temps!

When was the last time White lake froze?
I know we have had some severe cold that has made its way far south this year, but does ice happen yearly or once every 10 years? Just curious....
I was up in southern Maine just before New Years and saw -24.

The last time it froze was in 1989. Very seldom do we get temps this low in NC.

are those dates pretty firm? if so we are going to go ahead and get our place to stay...

Posted By: Donald80SN
Date Posted: January-21-2018 at 1:44pm
They are very firm and we all normally stay at the White Lake Motel and Campground. Saturday night we have a big cook out where we grab a grill from the campground and everyone brings a wide variety of food and such. The motel is normally booked with just us since it is a few weeks before the lake officially opens up. Many other motels are not yet
open and this place opens up early just for us. The rooms all have two queen beds and it is very basic, but very clean. It is around $70.00 per night so it is hard to beat the price. Friday night we usually pitch in on pizza and we have many pizzas delivered to the motel. Saturday, we have a on the trailer boat show at White Lake Marine. Most years they do a cook out for us. Then after lunch we all hit the lake at once. Many will get in a 1/2 day on Sunday on the water if the weather is nice. Townsend usually has an arrangement with the boat ramp where we do not have to pay to launch or if we do it is just once for a min fee.

We think was something electrical in the boat house wiring that started the fire. It’s hard to exactly determine when everything is under water.

I called and made a reservation today. The front desk asked if I was with the boat group as they were holding rooms for us as opposed to then”other event in town. They mentioned that reservations seemed slow and they hoped it picked up soon. Let them know it will most likely have an uptick in a couple of weeks.
All the reservation cost was a call and 5 minutes- no deposit

NEGATIVE Ghost rider......... Reason for you to stay home to make sure the Boy knows that's your baby girl he's taking to the Prom. You have a vast network of "cousins" across the globe that have your back and should any Tom Foolery occur whilst on Prom night with said Baby Girl he will probably end up on the bottom of some lake never to be seen again. Make sure he has seen "Next of Kin"

Reason why I haven't been to this one in several years. Prom night means Dad is there to "take Pictures" and to make sure the Boy knows the Rules. Won't be there this years as it's Parents Day at my daughters college and she has requested her Daddy be there. Nuff said.

Tim,

I will be at White Lake and my wife Kerry, will handle the shot gun duties.
She is also the family photographer. Her prom does not interfere so I will see that pre and post event. His prom is the hold up with Natalie.

Another thing we are adding this year is a silent auction. 100% of the money raised will go towards David's non profit 828 Networks. 828 Networks was started to help bring technology into schools around the world. Giving schools access to computers, software, internet access, and other equipment such as 3D printers and tools to enrich and grow student's potential.

Don't know. Still have antifreeze in the boat. Cleaned it during Easter break when it was warm two days in a row.

What a great weekend. Weather was right around 70 and the sun was out. Great times were had and WLM put on a nice show for us. Got to meet new people and see old friends. And of course, see some great correct crafts.

And what would a trip to white lake be without some problems. Thanks to John, Neil and Doug for helping us out with a bad ammeter and to Patrick and Marty for diving in and getting us through our first bearing change. We got very lucky and had a bearing go bad on the way from the motel to WLM. Perfect place to have that happen. Both sides are brand new now and my knowledge of trailer wheel assemblies is greater. Thanks again.

Hate to say, I didn't take many pics. Hope others took more.

Considering the extensive rebuild, the speed of the rebuild, and no time to test the Ski Tique prior to the White Lake reunion you and Jesse should feel very proud of your work. The amp gauge problem was just a bad gauge, not a problem with your work. The boat looks great, runs strong, and feels solid. Beautiful! And thanks for letting us ride with you.

Another great weekend at White Lake with some great old and some great new friends. I would like to give a special thanks for White Lake Marine for providing lunch and the boat show with Ramp Passes. The Silent Auction for charity was a great idea and thanks for PCM for the great raffle prizes. Mark, Patrick and Sherwood, from PCM, not only sponsored the event with Tee Shirts and Raffle items but they also participated each night and was involved in every aspect of the event.

Like David Stated, the weather was possibly the best in the last three or more years at the mini. The water temps were still a little cold for most with temps in the low 60's. We broke the Friday Pizza tradition and went out to an Italian Restaurant in Elizabeth Town on Friday night and Saturday night we had over 25 people for the cook out back at the White Lake Motel.

Thanks again to White Lake Marine, and PCM Engines / Correct Craft Boats.

Donald

Special thanks to David and Jesse for making this an educational event.
On Saturday they showed everyone how to rebuild a right side trailer hub. On Sunday, they had a class at the Motel on an alternative method, where they showed how to swap out a left side hub for a complete assembly. Also, thanks for showing that a Budweiser container can be used as a make shift tool box.

Pete, NO Chinese bearings were used and we are sticking to our story.

Just sit right back to hear a tale a tale of a fateful trip with the Skipper, Gilligan on a three hour tour with the SS Minnow. Unfortunately, no Mary Ann, Ginger and no coconut cream pies.

Sherwood, if you click on the arrow, it is not a straight arrow titled editor, and new dashboard will appear at the top of your thread. Then you will see two photo's of green trees. The one on the right has an arrow in it. Click on that one and then your CPU will ask you to check your files for pictures. You have to click OK and the photo's will post.

I enjoyed meeting and hanging out with you too.

Is the blue 60's Ski Nautique closed loop cooled?

That San Juan is so cool I can't stand it.

Thanks for posting the pictures, looks like a great time and calm water!

Thinking you are referring to the 70's vintage SN with the cooling reservoir and it looks like an Excalibur has been dropped in there or perhaps a 305, either way I bet that thing really moves.

Yes, that's the one. Is there a thread on it or diary, I didn't remember seeing that one so don't know who the owner is? What year?

That boat is a 79 Ski Nautique and the Owner is Sherwood ( Bigbirdmk) and he is an employee of PCM in Little Mnt., SC. Yes the motor was a closed loop transplant. He arrived with some minor fuel line collapsing issues and he had some stronger fuel line with him. He did the swap of the fuel line Saturday and the boat ran great. Patrick, also with PCM had a 93 ish Ski Nautique with a newer PCM swap out motor too. Those PCM guys seem to have access to some cool motors. Mark Snider, also with PCM, stayed with the old 302 Form Holman Moody Power in is Mustang , Orange with Black interior.

The boat with the 5.7 liter right hand closed cooled engine is mine. It is a 1979. I do not have a thread on here with it but look at my Instagram or on Instagram search for #79skinautique. I installed that engine last year when I bought the boat because the 5.8 commander was seized up. The boat is fast and very responsive, but when you hit 5000 RPMs the bot is going faster than what it can handle and starts porpousing.

The well known high speed Correct Craft handling issues, that's why I'm OK with my measly 130 HP! Just kidding, seems like a few full sized CCFans in the back seat is a help with the porpoising, That boat is beautiful, and has to be a lot of fun with the re-power.

More weight in back increases the porpoise. Bouncing = fast AND safe. It’s when the nose plants that things become dangerous.

When I’m referring to the porpousing on my 79 it’s drastic, it starts as a small bounce and quickly increases to the point it feels like the nose is going to go under water. I will not hold mine at WOT very long.

My bad, I started it with my backwards statement.

Sherwood, is it a 330 HP 5.7?
