Hey all..

I've been asked by many "when we'd make Green Lake great again".......
So by popular demand, I'm posting this as a means to get us together yet once again at the big lake they call "Horrible" LOL....

So those of you who want to come out and spend time on the big lake, tip a few back with friends in the bay, and bring your beloved CC, block out the weekend of July 14th.

No formal sign up.. We'll most likely gather for a trailer show on Friday night, then spend all day in the water on Sat/Sun. No formal dinner...

Check the following site for accommodations.. The Lakeside Inn has reopened under new management,, Now called the Green Lake Suites..

www.visitgreenlake.com

So make a plan, even if its for the day..

I wouldn't mind bringing the old Martinique up to see how it handles the big water. Sounds like fun! I thought the Lakeside was going to be sold, torn down, and made into condos!? That is what the guy that used to own it mentioned. Anyway, good to see it is still there. Classic 50's/60's style motel.

Boat Jam is when Shoreline Boat Center hires bands to come out and play on a barge they set up in Norwegian Bay... Depending on the bands, its pretty fun.. When the band sucks, we usually drown them out with our tower speakers ....

Question...
Alan, I already know your answer...
We've done an on -trailer gathering Friday night at the Legion hall parking lot now for several years. Its been a great spot for parking and hanging out, but not so much because of the ball field across the street...

Should we go back to perhaps the launch at the campground? That seemed to be a good spot as well, especially for a smaller crowd. The skeeters can be rough, but I guess they are anywhere in Wisco..

Anyone care one way or the other?

100% for the Legion. Large flat lot, restroom and you can park down the gravel road, well outside of the swing of any townie major league wanna-be.

We had ice out down this way, but, the lakes are icing over again!

I haven't heard about Green Lake, but, Lake Geneva is clear. About same size and depth of GL, just an hour or so south of GL.

Just got back from there yesterday. neighbor called and said the big tree in front of the house is now all over the yard.. They had 3 inches of ice and over a foot of snow Sat night and with 40 mph winds, it took all kinds of trees down.. Only a gutter dent out of all that..
Lake is open , no ice..

So everyone, looks like we have a new and cool looking addition to the landscape of Green Lake. Across from the launch in town, and on water is a brand New Bar and Grill called Thunder Boss. From the looks of it it will most certainly give the Goose a run for its money..
grand opening slated for June and craft beers brewed right in Ripon will be on tap. Head chef is from the Grey Rock Mansion (Basically the Heidle Houses premier restaurant.. Should be good.. !!!!!

Well, just finally got all the wood out of my yard that dropped during that ice storm and had a chance to think about looking up the GL reunion. I work every other weekend and you picked the weekend I have off. Yessssss.... Will bring the SkiTique again - only now it's mine. Camp Grow sold it to me almost two years ago and now they are out of business and property sold. See what happens when you get rid of your CC? :)

Anybody looking for a ride just holler. It won't compete with the East Coast guys but with the SBC 350 it still will break 50 mph. If I had a bunch more time and a few more dollars I'd be real tempted to drop a supercharged LS in it. I have the supercharger in a truck (that needs an engine). But too many current projects ahead of that at the moment.

We decided One boat is enough. We sold the 80 to another previous Show Owner. We did not have time enough for it so we passed it onto someone who is going to restore it.. To further prove I did not have enough time is I am still trying to find the motor tag in my trashed garage. For now it's the 83. Kind of on the hunt for a nice 01 ish SANTE but it needs to be the right boat and the right time.

What about the swim platform? I wasn’t there but the legend lives in the retelling! Was they even Green Lake?

Definitely Green Lake, although I only saw the aftermath.

Green Lake....the "Granddy of them all"....been there twice. Beautiful lake. Great organization...great friends. Always an A+ event. Do I go there to ski....nope...just to socialize with all the great Fans. It is the event that started all the others and the event that all the others try to live up too.
If it was a wee bit closer and not during our Tennessee time we would be there again.

Plus we get to see Pete!

Site 32 reserved. I'll arrive sometime Friday afternoon. If anyone needs repairs/tools/road beer on the way north, I live just off the 94-41 interchange in milwaukee. Give me a call. Otherwise see you in Norwegian Bay. Planning early trips to the slalom course for whomever is interested.

A lot of great memories at GL. Those pics bring a lot of them flooding back. It was cold that morning, and if I recall, the morning of the infamous Mastercraft incident, Thanks for sharing those M3fan

Great pics. Made 4 treks to GL and loved them all. But, by far the best was when we dragged the boat all the way from CA. Just got back from 4 days of waterski camp for my daughter (now 11), learning the slalom course. Hope to get her back to GL again some time.

Have fun, and I know you will.

Brian,
I think you hold the record for distance traveled and then Billy is just behind you. Yes, good times and good memories.

I think the biggest reunions occurred during this sweet spot of life phases within the group where we had a bunch of folks in their 20's with no kids/no responsibilities and a bunch of folks just coming out of the heavy phases of parenting with older kids or total empty nesters. It was a really fun time period for sure. Now the 20 somethings are 30 somethings and smack dab in the middle of a really busy life phase.

And yes, the BKHallpass Rig:

+2 on if you need a ride. I live local (Ripon) and provided I can get my truck running, will be bringing a small, empty boat ('75 SkiTique w/ 350 Chevy) likely sometime Sat aft. (Hopefully earlier).

+1

Cool group shot.

2nd year we attended we pulled the '80 to Reid's house..hung around for a couple days. Then left for the TN/KY border to pick up kytom & Skicat. Had a huge blowout on Skicat's truck in pouring rain. Changed that tire like a NASCAR crew.. continued on to Green Lake..stayed a couple days in a trailer with Quinner and then pulled the boat to TN for our club trip. Interesting vacation.

was great seeing BKH in person.
