Hi guys,

we consider buying a used SAN 220 2007.
What are your thoughts? What are the typical issues with this boat? What can be checked before buying?

You want to look at overall condition of boat, gel shines and not scratched up, is interior intact, not brittle, no tears rips, etc., motor clean, oil clean, does it sound good running, shift in/out of gear smooth. If boat has perfect pass check what hours it shows vs the hour meter. Motor and trans wise no real known issues, the GM powerplants go thru fuel pumps periodically but not something easily checked. Post pictures and we can certainly provide much more input.

had a look at the boat today, attached some pictures if someone is interested. To me everything looks in very good shape, only the prop has some small visible dents.

* Prop looks decent but with visible 'dents' may cause an imbalance. If it's just small nicks, you'll probably be OK, just make sure they don't have rough edges or chunks missing.
* Give the prop a spin to make sure the shaft spins fairly freely but doesn't have excessive play at the cutlass.
* Look for stress cracks around the strut - direct drives and V-drives are susceptible to underwater impacts, more so that I/O's
* Exhaust already has the surf pipe installed, so plus if you're into surfing.
* Swim platform isn't installed and I didn't see it in the pics so perhaps check mounting hardware for wear or play
* Overall you'll want to check out the engine and transmission very thoroughly as I understand drive train parts for these boats may be hard to come by in the Euro region.

As far as problems for this specific model and/or year range others will have to chime in.
