As I've read here, several 70's/80's CC's may have 1.5" packing gland O.D., but larger (1.75") stuffing box. I have such a boat. Here's something that works:

Item #: 000119 Silicone reducer, 1.625" to 1.5". Available Amazon from www.siliconeintakes.com.

I guess there's 2 schools of thought on the hose, rigid or flexible. I was shown (back in the 80's) to use a soft hose here, so as not to affect the alignment. In other words, let the strut guide the shaft, not the stuffing box.

Anyway, the above hose fits like a champ!

Brian,
Looks great and I'm sure easier to install. Also it looks like it's got plenty or reinforcement to prevent the gland from rotating.
