Looking for a 70's vintage motor box hinge, something like this.

Larry,
Those Perko strap hinges aren't easy to find anymore. They were prone to breaking across the screw hole closest to the hinge pin and consequently I feel the reason for a design change.

https://www.fisheriessupply.com/perko-strap-hinge" rel="nofollow - Fisheries supply lists them Make sure you select the 6 hole. Don't be shocked with the $$$$

Pete,

That is exactly what happened to mine. I saw similar at West marine (where the photo came from) and they are equally proud. I was thinking like 12 bucks. I did this search a year or two ago and seem to recall the similar replacements dont have the holes in the exact same places as the originals.

Thanks Bill. Appreciate your looking.

I have 2 of them. One is in good (a few pits) but not perfect condition. The other is missing the tip of one end by the screw hole. You can have them if they fit they fit your needs.

For sure agree with that, Pete. If he really really have to have "the original"he should try to get them in stainless steel. At least with that he can straighten them if they bend. The old Zamac (read: Pot Metal) broke through the holes when the motor box was opened all the way without support under it.

Bad then we used ATTWOOD products. The hinge was chrome over pot metal.

When we stopped using those strap hinges, we changed to a really heavy-duty two-part hinge that was practically indestructible, and they had a removeable pin that made it simple to take off the motor box when needed. You might consider changing over unless you are concentrating on originality.

Can’t get to my hinges right now to verify but marinehardware.com has a very similar 3 hole strap hinge. They don’t list a price though.

Found these on eBay for $13, meh worth a shot:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2PCS-Stainless-Steel-Cast-Boat-Marine-Strap-Hinge-6-Attractive-High-Quality/152624211278?epid=780008519&hash=item23891ca54e

SeaChoice for $24:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/STRAP-HINGE-SEACHOICE-33811-STAINLESS-STEEL-6-MARINE-HARDWARE-BOATINGMALL-STORE/161493364618?epid=1023750833&hash=item2599c12f8a:g:aCcAAOSwBahVAaG8:sc:USPSFirstClass!33849!US!-1

But nobody gives hole spacing.

Oh wait, $6.50 strap with hole spacing but it’s in that foreign measurement:
