My new 176 (carbed) has developed a bit of a lope at idle. Hasnt been a big deal or affected our use of it, but would like to straighten it out. Hard to diagnose and/or fix as it comes and goes. Zach suggested tinkering with idle adjust screws, which I have done. I thought, at one point, when I fiddled with them and it went away, It was good, but it came back. Like I said, comes and goes. 30 seconds after I took this video, it stopped. A minute or 2 later, it came back, but not as bad. So when tinkering with screws, maybe it stops because of what I did, or maybe it stops because its ready to stop. Dumped some sea foam ("liquid duct tape?") just to see if that might clear it up, but didnt seem to help, tho not a very big dose (1/2 can, 5 gallons, only run for a few minutes) Usually doesnt do it when first heading out, more likely to do it when hot, but again, not always, or it will start to do it when hot, then stop doing it.

Any other thoughts?

Looks like you got yourself a gt40 wannabe there Larry

I usually seem to get good results pulling the metering block off and giving it a soaking and cleaning and blow things out with air to get those little idle passages that you can't really see

Larry,
Your engine is toasted!! It needs a major rebuild so I'd be more than happy to drive down and take the boat off your hands.

Here's the metering block:
