HI
My 1965 mustang has a AS1 70C 1;1 velvet drive.. It appears I lost reverse .
Has anyone rebuilt this style velvet drive? I see rebuild kits are available online.
I cant find anyone in the Pittsburgh ,Pa area with experience
Can anyone recommend a reputable   mechanic .

Thanks in advance for advice,

Dan

Here's a link to a B/W manual that will give plenty of detail on disassembly and reassembly

It's from the CCF reference section

You probably have a split, separated (AKA broken) reverse clutch plate

I'm no help on anything in the Pittsburgh area

The trans from the Chrysler is the same. Check the pump rotation to be sure the same as the one you take out.

I searched out   "Borg WARNER 72 C Velvet V-DRIVE REBUILD " and found good videos.
These transmissions are not that difficult if you have mechanical ability and some shop tools. Full rebuild kits are available online
