I don’t doubt the seriousness of the virus to the elderly and unhealthy and obviously it’s ability to spread is unreal. I can’t help but to feel there’s a hidden agenda behind this event but hey, I trust no one. A trip through the gtocery store lastnight and some of the random items I’ve seen wiped out reminds me of the book “Alas Babylon.” What’s some of the ridiculous things related to the virus that you’ve seen or heard? Closures that are hard to make sense of?

1. Florida closes all state campgrounds for 60 days. Most if not all campgrounds are state parks open for day use. Day use of these parks will remain available 8-5. I guess only campers in the dark can spread the virus.

2. Schools are closed until April 15. I get that, yet Teachers are expected to return to work next week. Daycares are currently still open but tentatively to close next week. So in my house my wife will go back to work next week after they said to stay home, but our boys won’t have a daycare forcing me who works pretty much 100% socially isolated and I’m the one who makes the money to stay home and watch the boys. Online learning is how they plan to finish up the school year. That’s fine for high school like my wife teaches but how’s that gonna work with a kindergartner?

I live in a foodie city with many restaurants and in a region that is heavily dependent on a 9 week summer season. If this keeps up many restaurants won't survive and if it extends into summer, it will be a long winter next year. I hope all these closures and social distancing get the thing under control fast. I was just starting what was going to be a busy spring and the phone has gone dead.

Every day something new here. Yesterday, the email was "several" students now tested positive but no specific number was given (work at a college).

This is still so new and we are all trying to get our feet under the lock downs, kids home, etc. My prediction, within a week, with no sports for distraction and all coronavirus and its all Trumps fault all day long on the TV, get ready for peoples tempers to flair.

If we get control of this before it becomes devastating the conspiracy seekers and Dems will say it was all a hoax and blown out of proportion.
If we end up with a high body count the Dems will blame it on Trump for not moving quick enough.

Read the book STATE OF FEAR by Michael Crichton. It is fiction, but the final 50 pages or so are references. Crichton suggests that the general populous is more easily governed when there is some enormous perceived threat or fear.

In the Cold War we feared the Soviets. In the 1980's we feared aerobic instructors in "leg warmers". At the turn of the century, Y2K had most people all wound-up. "Global Warming" has been the fear-mongering topic of the press for 10+ years. Now its COVID-19. The "press" loves to build up a topic to global fear and panic levels. Before the 1990's news broadcasts rarely had words like "catastrophic" "devastation" "cataclysm" "disaster" "scourge" "melt-down" etc. Now these words are part of our every-day new stories.

All this and a 5.7 magnitude earthquake here in Utah this morning. WHAT IS THE DEAL??

It is nuts. Makes you wonder if there is more to it? What would it be like if it were something like ebola?

We have a great gun store in Maine called Kittery Trading Post. Big store with a large gun department on the 2nd floor. Supposedly, there was a line out the door yesterday for people buying guns and ammo.

Yes that helps, Oddly enough I've found a youtube channel called cruising the cuts. It's about an english guy cruising the 2000 miles of english channels on his narrow boat 2 miles per hour at a time.    It puts me to sleep in about 15 minutes, so if you're having trouble getting to sleep give it a try, it's awesome, LOL

Just drove by your place the other day. I see the security guards are still out front. Gonna need them these days. I hear "personal security devices" (guns) are in high demand.

It's been an interesting ride so far and its mind boggling to see the reaction of folks. TP???? WTF? Of course the Airline industry has taken a huge hit and all week at the worlds busiest airport here in ATL its been almost as quiet as 9-11.. A walk out to the back porch and you'd see planes lining up for TO. Now it's something out of end of the world movie when you have one airplane taking off every 5-10 minutes not every 45 secs.
Having moved to the northside of ATL the drive through town has been a breeze on the way home. Normally stop and go in midtown for a couple miles is now slowing to 60-65. It's been nice getting home as quick as I get to work as nobody is on the road at 4:00am. DAL is offering 30. 60 and 90 day LOA to anyone who wants it paid medical.. All the OWP off without pay that you want as well. Quite a few guys are jumping on that. It all seems surreal as 2 weeks ago it was all the OT and DT you wanted as TechOPS was an Engine Repair Machine and working so many engines of our own and everyone else's. Since this Pandemic arrived we're parking 300 airplanes, Sr. Mgmnt has forgone pay for 6 months, Local mgrs are taken a 25% cut and obviously all OT has been cut off. GUYS this is freaking insane.

Keep up the humor as we all need it but also keep the small business owner in mind. They are REALLY gonna suffer from this and are gonna need our help to make it. Some of them are our own members here. Alan comes to mind so be sure to help him out and buy a few CCFan shirts from Action Screen to replace one or two that you've worn out. Might I even suggest you forgo the discount offer that Action Screen is offering on your order. Support your locals guys too and order take out from the establishment so when we get through all this you can go back and eat in. One other thing...…..

Quit HOARDING THE TOILET PAPER!!! I know many of y'all are full of it but....C'MON MAN!

I’m in the burbs of London first to go was all the bog roll and pasta then all the beer and wine, now all food in the supermarkets, they cannot re stock faster enough, looking like we are heading for a shut down, staying at home maybe as long 12 weeks.. we have seen queues in the USA too some at gun stores…
As we understand it for some its like a light flu but if your older or have a condition or smoke it can bring on pneumonia fast, hence the need for ventilators to help people recover.

Interesting about the beer and wine. Our stores have plenty of beer and wine but are very low on food and no paper products. I went to Sportman's Warehouse just to see the gun situation. All the ammo is gone except for the less popular calibers and there was a line at the gun counter with most of the displays empty. Also I bought gas yesterday and was surprised to see how cheap it was, $1.85 for regular.

Fuel is an interesting double edged sword right now. Cheap at the pumps, gas should be below $2 everywhere. But the price war is another thing suppressing the economy at the same time as the mayhem. I'll take the cheap fuel for now, gives all of us some relief for the time being.

My wife was able to order some TP on Amazon, and it shipped. I'm pretty sure TP won't be a long term problem, there are other things in the supply chain that will become more difficult as we move forward.

Can't find any alcohol wipes, sanitizer, etc. Pretty simple stuff to manufacture, amazing supply hasn't caught up yet. Hadn't looked for bleach, curious to see if there is any next time I'm at the store.

I thought, hmm, desperate times call for desperate measures. I'm gonna try the lumber company. SCORE!! Got two cases. Shout out to Menard's. I didn't try HD, but, I don't think they normally carry groceries and household products.

I'm guessing most here have seen the distillery in PA that shifted over to making sanitizer, and others are doing it. Here in NH several very small distilleries are being contacted to see if they can do it. The guy in PA said the mix is easy and simple, the hard part is needing a source of very high proof alcohol, and he had that so shifted production over.

Some good people are figuring out creative ways to help out.

Dave,
The TP is in the cleaning section. We had about 4 pallets of it in the overhead and brought it down when we heard of the "crisis"!

So far the farthest north it's come is Wausau but that's getting close. The Depot has been busy with customers buying project supplies that they are finally finding time to do. Open store hours are reduced so we can take extra cleaning steps. .

-Miami area I believe already is/or will be lock down Friday.
-Hillsborough county can’t make their mind up whether they’re going lockdown Friday. They’re changing they’re minds like my wife changing outfits before we do family pictures.
-Orange county starts 11pm Thursday for a full lockdown. Unfortunately I’m 112’ inside Orange County.

Those are all I’m aware of presently. Our Governor Ron DeSantis has really gained my support amongst all this. Before I felt like he was flying u dear the radar and just serving his term. But past two weeks he’s decisions I felt were the best and most lucid by thinking a lockdown was counterproductive. I fled to Homosassa in Citrus County last week thinking if I was gonna be on lockdown I’d rather be at my camper with my Skiff behind me on the water. Citrus County might go full lockdown but at this point I suspect they’ll only do as governor says.

Miami is rumored to shutdown Thursday, us on Friday. They are the ones, as usual causing the problems. Last week they were coming down and buying up supplies. Now that the ramps hotels and parks are closed things are available for us. The governor is impressive. Lot better than our Illinois buffoon who is more interested in pointing fingers.

Yea bars were closed then but depending on their licence some that had food were open at half capacity. Then during the week they said by Sunday close all hotels. If you had a long term rental you could stay but when it expires, say at the end of the month it could not be renewed. Now since Sunday anything that's open is carry out. So far only 3 cases we'll see in a few what the update is. How's it going by you?

Try putting a hungry deer tick under each armpit...

Gary, sounds like Orlando had same measures as you but been that way for over a week now. The big hotels completely closed including the one at the airport. Best decision I made was to come to the forgotten coast. Orlando was chaotic and no groceries or supplies. Homosassa area things are limited but definitely available. I finished my last job up Saturday and turned down the only job I had lined up at the same time. I figure I’ll be here until a reason calls me back to Orlando, if it’s a year from now that’s fine.

Love it!

I live in an area with lots of families. They are now closing the playgrounds because the cooped up kids are going nuts and too many people are bringing them to the parks.

On the brightside, they just decided to allow take out drinks. . I can now order nachos supreme with frozen gold margaritas delivered to my front door.

Bear in mind this from FB so you can discount the authenticity, but. I read that Chuck Schumer requested that the recovery bill include reparations for Transgender Native Americans affected by climate change. I asked but could not find an answer to 1. How many Transgender Native Americans there are? 2. How many are affected by climate change? 3. How much do we owe them?

Secondly I read that the Mayor of San Fransisco requested all homeless residents use there home toilets and work from home during this crisis. It was noted that not less than 7 people were doing their business on the State Capital steps as she was making this speech.

Bon Jour!

“state-owned islands, beaches, sand bars and emergent shoals, are closed to the public due to concerns of the spread of COVID-19, according to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.”

That’s what I read on the news. Along with maintaining a 50’distance between boats. But only 6’ distance while at the grocery store.
