On behalf of 81Nautique (Alan) and Myself Mojoman (Dave),Stang (Gary) and 62 Wood (Steve) we are getting prepared to start the initial planning for Green Lake 07. Like last year, the urgency to book space for the parks is the main focus, followed by the event planning, pro bookings and boat demo's etc. While we will want "pointed" help this year, and appreciate some of your participation, keeping the efforts pointing in a straight line and pulling in the right direction will be important.
I would like to get a baseline concensous from those seriously interested in coming and participating on some key areas... Please only cast a simple vote. Discussions, opinions and reasons are welcome later. I figure it's election day so those areas with the most votes is were we will go.. (See the next Post for the ballot) Now here's a chance for you to help decide where we go with this, so for those who attended last years event, and want to come again, please chime in !!! Date Some dates in July are real bad in July. The most open date is the 13-15 of July. Sound good? or move to August? MOJO Venue Try to book the park for gathering, or move to an alternate for unlimited trailer parking in a different park setting (see screen saver for pics) Stay in Park? or move location? MOJO- undecided Band or DJ Should we convince Teachers Pet to make a return visit or try our hand at a little disc turning? Band ??? or DJ??? MOJO(ask me why) Sat Night Dinner The pig roast as like in 06', Or grill on our own BYOM, or other, like don't bother and everyone fend for themselves come dinner time ?? Pig Roast?? or Bring own meat?? or No Dinner?? MOJO Possible Barefoot or Wakeboard Lessons Do we want to offer this again this year if possible? Barefoot ?? or Wakeboard?? or neither?? MOJO Boat Show Do we continue with an in-water boat show, or have it land based? In water w/beers? or Parking lot w/o beers? MOJO OK, we want to have an initial meeting within the next couple of weeks. Vote now to have a voice. GL 07' I believe can be 3-4 times larger than 06', and as fun... Let's get started..... Joel, It's open to one and all.. Re-read the prescript in post #2. Brian, Here's the breakdown for July: Since the 4th is mid week, this might be more open now for accommodations on the 6/30-7/1 etc. The week of the 7-8 Sail boat tournament The week of 14-15 is open (warmer water) The weekend of 21-22 and 28-29 are usually more crowded because of the Oshkosh air show.. Could be possible, it's the hotels that will be real iffy. The 14/15 is the safest right now.. Moj' |

The New England guys had their reunion in August last year and some of them are talking about coming out to GL. I think we should stay with July and have atleast few weeks between the 2 reunions. ------------- |

I'm open for the 14/15, but that is the same weekend as the NASCAR race in Joliet. I don't plan on going to the race, but my brother always goes. He was at the reunion this year, but won't be able to go next year if we have to go with 14/15. |

I dont know enough about the park situation to voice an opinion. It would be cool to try and keep people as close as possible, and to have a safe place to park the truck/trailer though. As far as food goes, I a$$ume there are grills available if we bring our own meat? Definitely want to do the whole sand bar thing- but it would also be cool to be able to walk around and see all the boats while on the trailers. Maybe theres time Sat AM (after skiing) for that? ------------- |

Does this mean the lake is more crowded, or just the town in general? I'd be curious to know how early people book rooms that are going to the air show. August steps into "vacation" month and I'm guessing lots of families won't be able to make it. ------------- |

I voted neither, I can't imagine joel voting wakeboarding so i'm gonna go with neither for him as well. I figure there are enough of us there to go out and teach people the basics, if you're looking for serious pro lessons going to their site would probably be more beneficial. ------------- |

It's kinda looking like a no brainer other than the lessons issue.

Great voting guys.. Hollywood, thanks for the clean up, that list was looking nasty..
Regarding the July dates.. The issue is two fold. The marked dates that are busy up there impact the hotels and venues the most... Large groups come up which books everything up.. Hell, many of these hotels book a year in advance except for the Heidel House $$. Here again, we can chance the dates and book other than the 14-15. I just mentioned it, like this year, is the safest. The event will definately be held in July. June's weather and water temps are to iffy in central Wisc. Moj' PS: Just keep voting and put in alternative dates in July that are doable and we will tally the results. |

I can do any weekend in the summer, EXCEPT for July 28 & 29. Maybe either of the previous 2. That being said, I agree with Mojo as far as hotels go. Last year, the wife and I stayed at the Green Lake Inn, which only had about 20 rooms. I imagine they go pretty fast. Mark; If it is in the middle of July I cannot. Bummer, but I have work camp at my job and then I hit Norris Lake in Eastern Tennessee to see all my Ohio buds. But I sure will miss it. Sounds like those guys had a great time this year. We got alot of guys down here, maybe we should get something goin' for ourselves. Possibly around April and tie into the Orlando reunion. We could have our own "C/CFAN" area. Did you go there last year?

Jbear, I'd love to make Green Lake, but in the middle of July I'll be in the middle of a South Dakota reservation. Maybe something else will out. 62 (Steve) is looking at a little something in Iowa for May.

Chuck: If all works out for us, we will stay over in Tennessee after all the Ohio guys go home. But that may be a little far for you to come. But you guys would love it there. I don't know....lets look at a map and see what is "halfway" between you and me. Trouble with that tho is you don't know what you are getting into water wise. How about a Spring Training trip?
