Has there been any talk yet of a New England reunion this year. I thought I remember Ken saying something about Keith looking into his dad's lake, but that's all I recall. Anybody know anything. Just curious as summer plans are already starting to form and I wanted an idea of schedule.

Larry,

Keith and I did discuss the New England reunion in ME. I'm not sure the status. I'll try reaching out to Keith because this is the right time of year to start planning it.

I am new to the 2001 community. And I can't wait to go to my first Correct Craft Reunion. How many boats usually show up for a New England Reunion?

Hi All,
I was thinking it was time to start this discussion. The 2006 reunion was a great time and I like to make the next reunion even bigger and better. We have to consider a few options for the 2007 NE Reunion.

1) Do we want to keep things as they were last year or change format and location (last year the 'land' event was at NECC and the 'water' event was at Milton Three Ponds, NH)?

2) If we change locations, what are we looking for / value the most?
  • Land and water evnets at same location?

  • Motels / campgrounds nearby?
  • [/
  • For water event: ability to hang out on water together (i.e. sandbar)?
  • For water event: ability to ski/board/foot on lake together?
  • For water event: lake size?

  • For water event: calm water?

  • We have been looking at doing the 2007 event at our family's lake in Limerick, ME (Sokokis Lake). The lake is divided into two sections, separated by a narrows. The smaller section could be made private for the majority of a day (this is what we do for the annual ski show). This would allow for calm water where we could all ski, board or foot together. Down side is this part of the lake is very small. We would only be able to have two boats at any one time at skiing / boarding speed. The rest of the lake would be open to all traffic (reunion traffic and 'public' traffic). However, it too is not very big (less than 200 acres).

There is no sandbar on the lake but there is a nice beach with a gra$$y field right at the water's edge where we could 'hang' for the day.

It all depends on what people want out of the event. Please give me your feedback.

    Happy 2007 Keith!
You guys did such a great job last year, I know that each year it will get even better.
    My 2 cents:
NECC was a pretty good set-up but, If ya had a real scorcher of a day, that parking lot may not be the best place to be? The beach/gra$$y area would be pretty cool!
I'd say an area that you can hang out, get the boats wet, & have a few cold ones, is more important than a perfect ski site.

Maine, I'm staying the hell away from Milton Three Ponds!

Would be nice to find lodging and have night festivities.

NECC was a fun location in my opinion. They did a great job hosting. Maybe this year, we can host for them on the lake.

As for when, I'm keeping my eye out for when
Great Lake is happening. I'd like to attend both. Any idea when GL is happening?

GL is the weekend of July 14-15, so an August date for New England would probably be best.

We should probably shoot for last week of July, first week of Aug for NE? Keith will have the final say, I'd imagine.

Unless I can figure out how to hitch the boat to a plane, Ill be driving.

First or 2nd weekend in August would probably give those of us who do both time to rest in between.

Keith, you going to GL again?

Got ya, Tim. I'm going fly out there. My luck, my trailer will explode on the highway. I figure there are probably enough boats there that I could bum a ride.

Maybe I missed the thread, but do we have lodging arrangements yet?

WHOA- what happened to this thread?
Thanks Keith for getting the ball rolling for NE '07 and offering your home turf for this bunch of gear heads!
I'd prefer to stay out of the parking lot and on the water (or water's edge) both days. Ideally, we would do lots of skiing, boarding, footing, which requires some fairly calm water. Managing the boat traffic at a small lake may become tricky, but we'll figure it out. Clinics would be nice to have there. Gear demos might be cool too- like skis or wakeboards, or something like that.

Come on Brad, Im even better at spending other peoples money than I am my own!

Only 3 weeks til the boat show... looking forward to it.

Concerning the reunion, would it be possible to pick a date soon? Even if we work out the rest of the details later, it would be nice to start nailing down some dates for this summer. Ill throw some out there: either of the first two weekends in August (8/4-8/5 or 8/11-8/12) would be my choice.

       Hey guys,

Anytime will work for me,I'll just work around it,but I'll be there for sure.Still on the fence about GL.It's not looking good for me right now,but we'll see.
Two days on the water would work for me,also. Is there any place near the lake that some of the travelers could safely leave there boats overnight? Not a big deal for me as I'm not to far away.I may be able to house a couple of out of towners at my camp depending on the date.

As for the boat show are we still on for Sat. the 17th?Looks like the wife & kids will be in Mexico so I'm free Sat or Sun.Let me know.I'd be up for a Shirley Temple or something afterwards.

    Hey Guys & Gals

I was thinking about the geography of the reunion and am wondering about how important it is? I have a couple of ideas in the Sunapee region of NH. 1.5 hrs to Boston, 1.5 hrs to NECC and fairly central in NE. My place is on Highland Lake (7 miles long) and excellent skiing etc. is only a few feet away. Also I might be able to use some connections to find something on Lake Sunapee. I emailed Keith sometime ago about it but for some reason I don't think he got it. If there's any interest with this I will go into further detail.

I think Keith has been pretty busy as usual. It's almost that time to discuss the plans for NE. We'll put our minds together soon and figure out what we're doing.

    It's almost boating season!!!!

Another suggestion for the reunion...Lake Ossipee in central N.H. It has a large secluded mile-long state beach with access to it by boat only. That secluded section of the lake has no houses nearby and is great for swimming, water skiing/wakeboarding and hanging out on the beach. There are also several campgrounds on the lake.

86Martinique and Ducksoup, thank you both for your suggestions. I'm still waiting on permission to use a part of my family's lake which is owned by someone else (hard to get a hold of people this time of year). In the mean time, both Highland Lake and Lake Ossipee are very good options.

Would you both mind looking into it a little more and sending me emails with how you might think these places would work?

    Thanks,

I hear Little Ossipee is nice. Are there accommodations for cooking some lunch or pulling our boats into a sandbar? I'm pretty much game for where ever you guys decide. My only request is a lake that somebody is familiar with and knows the bad spots.

Are we thinking second weekend in August? Maybe August 11th? We could plan the entire day for lake events. Can somebody post some links on the site for options?

    Hey Ken,

Actually, I think we are talking about two different lakes...

Little Ossipee, the lake you and I talked about, is in Maine. The Ossipee Lake Lee is suggesting in NH.

Yes, as Kyle said, Little Ossipee is in ME Ossipee Lake is in NH. Both are an option. Kyle emailed me awhile ago about Little Ossipee. Latest conversation is with Lee about Ossipee Lake (NH). I owe Lee a phone call to work out more detials but I think it might really well.

    I will keep everyone updated.

Ya... I forgot about everyone now needing the boating license for New Hampshire...more damn money for the Governor. The requirements are at www.boat-ed.com/nh. You take a on-line course for $15. and then have to take an exam at one of the scheduled locations throughout the state.Up until this past December you just needed to take the online course for the license. How the hell is someone in North Dakota who Summers in New Hampshie supposed to get a license??

FYI... I went to the Massachusetts site at www.boat-ed.com and found that they have a certificate required for anyone under 16 years old. It also states, "Take the official Massachusetts boating safety Certification Exam for only $20. You'll receive a boater education card that is NASBLA-approved and recognized by other state boating agencies."
Just not sure if N.H. accepts it but I will find out.

If anyone is going to take a course, you should take a coast guard course as it is honored by all states,I believe.Everyone who operates a boat in NH has to have one now.

You used to be able to take the test online, but unfortunately so many people cheated on it that they stopped doing it.It's too bad because the course is a great idea, but it just goes to show you by the amount of cheating that unsafe boaters will not be deterred by having to get a license.

    Pardon the temporary threadjack...
Kyle, you've been kind of scarce lately. Your name came up at the boat show, with Tim I believe. I knew you were looking for a new boat a year or so ago, the 176 at NECC, wasn't it. I seem to recall Craig saying he'd like to have your Skylark. I believe Tim told me you bought the new boat but kept the Skylark too. The reason I was thinking about it was my brother just bought the Skylark that was for sale on this site. He was interested in finding out as much as he could about the V6. I was wondering if that is the engine you have, and if you could be a source of info for him.
