I noticed this weekend on my 2000 Ski Nautique that a piece of rubber around 18 inces long and 6 inches wide was in the bottom of the engine well. I could not get a hold of my mechanic. It looked like it was glued on side but to what I do not know. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

TBART, The only thing I can think the rubber is from is under the gas tank. I have seen that frequently used as sort of a cushion. How thick is it and has the tank been out lately?

Thanks so much for the response. The piece is about 1/4" thick. The tank has not been out of the boat. That being said, the boat was not used for about 2 years prior to my purchase a couple of weeks ago. The water on the lake this past weekend was really choppy and could have jarred it loose if that is the problem.

How would I check the tank if I wanted to see if that is the issue?

Thanks again!

TBART, Just make sure that the gas tank mounting to the hull is tight.

Grab onto the tank and see if it moves. If it moves up and down or side to side then it's loose.

if you have a floor brace over the prop shaft which supports the hatch, it may have came from the top of that
