I was told to shop summit to buy a new marine carb. It is cheaper than other outfits, but I have many selections at other companies like jegs. I look at all 600 cfm carbs and read the details which are the same i.e. single feed inlet, vacuum secondaries, electric choke, etc but the prices are very different. From my observations, the fuel inlet placement on the primary bowl is the only real difference. My carb is obviously the most expensive as luck would have it. Wondering if the cheaper carbs would work if I fabbed up a new hard line from pump to carb. I am probably way off base here, but just thougt I would throw out the question.

Well, the base plate was warped when I got it back. It wobbled on the intake spacer. I didn't have many options but stick it on there.

Talking to boatdr he said when your carb is warped, it is toast and will never be right.

So here I am pricing new carbs and seeing what is the most affordable but offer excellent performance.

So basically I can get any (within reason) 600cfm carb even if it has a different fuel inlet but change the piping to make it work?

Carolina Carburetor Specialists may have a used one.

I replaced my Holley 600cfm marine (original) with the same from Jeg's. They were the cheapest new carb. I had to find a adapter to go from the fuel inlet to a basic flare fitting. I replaced the tubing also from the pump to the carb. I have had it on for about three years and have had no problems. I was happy with Jeg's and they were noticably cheaper than other suppliers

i went with a edlebroch 4 years ago and never had a regret i prefer it over the holley any day of the week

Well I can only say go back with the same carb that the engine was designed for.I tried the edelbrock on mine and had issues.A 600cfm carb was to much for a stock 302.Thats the reason the 302's need 450 cfm carbs from holley.Also there were some float issues with the edelbrock carb.When I had those issue's I called tech support for edelbrock an they said that due to the angle of the engines in the engine compartment,the carb would not run right.I tried everything from leveling plates to everything under the sun.My point is just go back to the original carb that the boat came with.

I agree, I put a higher cfm holley on mine, it didn't perform better, just used more gas. So I went back to the same size.
