Our dog(who, by the way is making the four and a half hour drive with us to the reunion)decided to tangle with a skunk tonight! Should make for an interesting road trip.

I had that happen last October. I called the vet and they said to mix peroxide, dish soap, and one other thing that I of course can't remember now, but it didn't work anyway. Next day a trip to the groomer didn't produce much better results. It took the better part of 6 months to completely go away. You'd smell it from time to time when he'd get wet. Good luck!

Did you hear this story on the news a few weeks ago? Someone dug up the information that Mitt Romney transported his dog in a carrier strapped to the top of his car. I guess you could always go that route...if you don't mind all the animal rights folks on your case.

Rob,the third ingrediant was baking soda. My wife found the "recipe" online. Didn't work for me either.I found some stuff called "Skunks ETC." All natural, uses enzymes to eliminate odors. I have my doubts but I'm willing to try anything short of putting her in a crate on top of the car. I used it tonight so we"ll see.(That story can't be real can it?) Farmer

I heard tomato paste/sauce works to get rid of the smell. Pick up a sixer.

I think it will get ugly when she gets wet. For those of you going to the reunion I'd like to apologize in advance. She just loves the water. To top it off,my wife starts to sneeze every time the dog gets near her. The dog cage on the roof sounds better all the time. Maybe large amounts of alcohol(for me not the dog) will help.

H.W: Tomato stuff don't work that well. I had an awesome Springer for 13 years that had only 1 fault: she loved skunks. I think Patti had to bathe her in some sort of "douche" stuff to get rid of the smell. Did the trick better than anything else we tried and believe me we tried 'em all.

That should make for a long ride. Instead of the dog's head hangin out the window, you'll have your head out there.
I recommend lots of vanilla-roma

So let me get this straight...all you did was have your dog take a bath with Quinner and the smell was gone? Wow, that's great!
