I purchased the boat late in the fall of 2017, and now finding out how much I don't know about inboard motor boats! At times it gets very frustrating, but being retired, I have the advantage of time being on my side.
ENGINE - Escort 351W, CW rotation (looking from stern) Barr Marine exhaust headers (65 lbs ea.)!
TRANSMISSION- Borg Warner Velvet Drive, Mod# ASI-71C, 1:1
GAUGES - Teleflex black background w/ blue indicators and white lettering (need ammeter)
BOAT - 1975 20' SOUTHWIND BOW RIDER INBOARD
I have removed roughly 2 to 300 lbs of wet foam and slowly removing the black bottom paint. Primary stringer appears to be rock solid, but secondary stringers (1/4" marine ply) needs replaced.
FYI - In this part of US it has been reported by some that zebra mussels have entered into marine motors. I have taken the advice of someone on this site to install a raw water filter (when it comes time to). I was able to find a 1-1/4"filer at TRACTOR SUPPLY for under $30.00.
I feel this is a perfect boat for water sports and being close to Lake Erie, a great fishing boat.
