Allow me to introduce this 1956 Correct Craft Atom Skier.
The original owners were my father, Robert Marshall and his friend, Rodney Rich, who bought boat and trailer in June of 1956 from Correct Craft Inc., Orlando Florida. After 14 years of skiing around Dayton, OH, and Lake Cumberland KY, my father died in 1970, when I was 3 yrs old. His friend ran the boat for another 5/10 years as maintenance records show. In early 1990's my father's friend contacted my older brother and offered him the boat which had been prepared for an overhaul. My brother got the engine running and then overhauled the engine seals etc...
I took over the project in 2012 and began refurbish projects 2.0, with help of my father-in-law. The engine was re in 2015 with drive connections, electrical (retained 6volt) rebuilt starter, etc...producing a running Gray 70 fall of 2018.
Floated boat fall 2018 to assess and repair as needed with the official launch in the summer of 2019. We had a fun summer of running this historical craft and family heirloom, including pulling up a skier (two skis). The original CC trailer received some new lights and bearing seals wit boat getting some new custom seat cushions. Final touches of float line and additional coats of Spar Varnish added.
I have all the original bill of sale and registration paperwork with receipts of the maintenance work etc...fun history project. next steps, convert the 8mm film of my mom and dad skiing behind the 56-Atom while I and my siblings watched from the pontoon boat.
Never knew my dad, but I now know his boat.
Boat was successfully launched July, 2019.
