I've always been amazed a snowmobile will run across water, it looks borderline nuts! I never caught the snowmobile bug myself. Our winter interests are pretty much non-motorized, we cross country ski along with a bit of downhill. I used to winter hike quite a bit but haven't recently, might try to take 1 or 2 of the kids out this year but would stay in a hut rather than tenting.
Oh, my other winter activity - working on the boats, of course. |

Wintertime hobby: waterskiing.
Lake: last week my buddy dropped his phone in the lake at the dock when we were pa$$ing it from the boat to the land. He dove in and grabbed it, took it home and put the hair dryer on it. Two hours later it worked as well as new. That's amazing. |

We downhill ski quite a bit up at Lake Tahoe. THis winter I am also making it a priority to do some cold weather waterskiing........ looking to purchase some good wetsuits and make a go of it. Also enjoy going to Golden State Warriors, San Jose Sharks and SF 49ers games as well with my 12 year old son.

Last year, a fellow Super Air owner turned me on to ice-biking. Motocross on the lake with studded tires. Seriously the most fun you can have on the frozen water. You would not believe how low you can go in turns. The tires stick to the ice like nobody's business. Thinking about getting one myself.
May give it one more season, but man, is it a GAS !!!! |

I save the silica gel stuff you get in shoes and various other packages (Think: Do Not Eat). Anytime I drop a phone/camera/camcorder/mp3 Player into water and/or snow, which is more frequently than I'd like to admit, I throw it in a small tupperware container with as much gel as I can pack in. Hasn't failed me yet. |

62,
You'll have to get us some Chevelle pics. That car must be worth a fortune now.I was at Barrett Jackson in Az. a couple years ago and saw an '70 LS6 4 spd. hardtop fetch 125k.Love those cars.I had a 72(small block) in high school. The local Arctic Cat dealer has a place on our lake. They get a bid rowdy on occa$$ion(Jeff Kostis will back me on that!).Every 4th of July at 5:30 am they run the lake on sleds from end to end....It's over 5 miles long.Last year they got arrested after trying to make a second pa$$ at 10:00 am. This weekend I will be putting ice screws in the the TTr50 and Wr450 tires in preparation for some winter ice riding. Mike |

Duck hunting! It exites me to no bounds. This latest cold front has to have driven some down to the local river bottoms and our place in AR. Season doesn' t open for two more weeks. Don't hunt out of the Martinique though. 14' jon boat w/ Johnson 15hp for that. I can't wait.

There are lots of things I'd like to do, if ony I had a little more money, a little more time and a little more space. Last year this topic came up and I said I'd like to think about building a crackerbox. Never got around to starting that. This past summer I found this hull
![]() which is just screaming out for an inboard set up, (it has been set up as an outboard) Didn't quite get around to that purchase. Although I did find an inexpensive source for all the drive train. This fall I found this v-drive ![]() on ebay I'd like to have, its ony about 10 miles away from me. So many projects, so few resources. Maybe when I retire. So in the meantime, I will keep up with my kids, work, ski about 3 times, and go to the pool to swim. |

Brian,
Definitely west coast. Scarce as hens teeth out here. Apparently a crackerbox hull sold at an antique boat museum auction in NH last year, but I wasn't there. I recall last year you saying you had a friend that was a big crackerbox racer. I knew if I started from scratch it would take me forever. I am always on the lookout for a project or a hull that might simplify my venture. Found the hull above (another view here) ![]() last spring. A couple days later I found on ebay a complete drive train and all hardware and it was 10 minutes from my office. I lost the auction, so I didnt buy the $600 boat. Its still there, unfortunately completely uncared for and currently has a foot of water in it (at least its water tight) with an oil slick on the water. I found a new source for drive train/hardware (but don't know how to dispose of a 20 foot fibergla$$ hull.) If I could get my Supra sold, that would free up a little space and cash to let me take on one of these projects. Can you try reposting your pics. I'd like to see them but can't. If you can maybe its on my end. Brian, just a thought here. I got to your pictures via photobucket. Don't know if you've had this problem before or even if it is the problem, but because you put "hallpa$$" in your picture ID line, CCFan turns the s's into $$ and the link gets mucked up. Just a thought. |

Yeah Larry, I just figured that out. I used bkhallpa$$ as my photobucket name. When I copy it into this site, it gets changed to bkhallpa$$ by the anti-foul language software. I'll have to go change my photobucket name.
If I were going to buy a Crackerbox racing hull, I'd look for a Bob Patterson boat. Bob is kind of THE guy in Crackerbox racing. I'm told he doesn't make boats anymore, but he's still seen at the races, and he built about 75 of them. BKH |

That type of stuff always takes more time and money than you'd like.Very nice car. Can't wait to see it done,so get to work!Is that blue pick-up yours?Another one of my favorite GM bodies,The late 60's,early 70's pick-up. My father in law collects cars.Mainley 50's convertibles, but he has a 36 chevy pick-up that still has the original wood in the bed.He also has a couple G.T.O.s,One of them is a 66 tri power 4 speed convertible with ram air, they only made 100.Most of his cars are AACA winners, and he always calls us and says"why don't you come take one of the cars for a ride".Lucky for me he thinks those cars are made to be driven, not trailered. If you ever get to A New England reunion,I'll have to give you the garage tour! Mike |
