Bad Impeller? RWP not pulling in water

   year 2 of owning an 84' SN 20 01 Correct Craft

I replaced the impeller like I did last year. I also do my own "fake a lake" to make sure I can get my CC running in my driveway. I fill a 5gal bucket of water and disconnect the water intake hose from the strainer and place it in the bucket.
But this time, no luck. Shut it off after a few seconds because no water was being sucked up.

I hooked up my garden hose to it instead. With the engine still off, water pushed its way all the way through the block and out the back from my garden hose at a slow steady rate. This indicated that i had no leaks in any of the hoses, otherwise they would make themselves known.

I then turned on the engine, and the water flow picked up a bit and wash being pushed out the back. This indicated to me that the RWP and impeller was doing SOMETHING (right?). I also confirmed that the Impeller was in fact spinning. And am 98% sure that its not backwards.

I shut it all off. move my water intake hose back to the 5 gal bucket. and It starts pulling in water for a few seconds and then back to nothing.

What gives? 

My driveway is on a decline with the bow pointing down. 

I think maybe theres some truth that for the RWP to pull in water, your boat has to be below the lake water line for gravity to work... so maybe its something like that at play here? idk how i got it to work the way it did last year but now can't.

I just want to do my due diligence to ensure my RWP and Impeller are properly working before I go out to the lake.

	Looking at your picture, you should be 100% sure the pump is oriented right as long as you have a Reverse Rotation engine, which would be what it was built with. I can't decide from your description whether you're sucking water through the strainer when using the bucket or if the strainer is out of the picture When you winterized, did you pull the little drain plug on the transmission cooler? if yes, did you put it back in? It seems like you have an air leak on the suction side of the pump( so the pump is sucking air instead of water) which could be the strainer itself (maybe the gasket is bad or missing, the cooler drain mentioned earlier, loose hose clamp on the suction side hoses or a bad hose I imagine your engine probably looks pretty much like the one in the picture with either the same strainer or a similar one. It seems that you've already primed the pump with the hose connected direct, so when you hook things bac up and get no flow something isn't right. When you're sucking from the bucket, did you rev the engine to 2000 rpm's or so to get some good suction going or just leave it idling? Questions, questions, try to answer them all

	Hey Keno I am not attempting to suck water through the strainer. It’s out of the picture. I disconnected the hose that takes water from the strainer and feeds into the transmission cooler and put it into the bucket. So no issues with a bad gasket in the strainer. Transmission Cooler is plugged I also replaced the old water hoses, thinking they may be bad. Brand new now. I’m going to try again tomorrow, and rev the engine to 2000 rpm to see what happens. I only had it idling when I previously tried.
