Sounds like a good idea. I use to have a magnetic drain plug for a car. It would always have very fine particles attracted, would clean them off at each oil change. I wonder how much magnetic flux gets to the inside of the filter can? Any physics guys out there?
PS - This could be a new marketing bling for Fram - refrigerator magnet inside. Goes nice with the grip coating, don't you think? |

I don't think it would do much. More than a couple pieces of paper under one of them and they don't hold very well. If carbon particles make it to the filter, then the filter media will get it. The heavier stuff that the magnetic drain plug gets is different. |
