I'm thinking about order a set of skins sometime in the fall, funds permitting.
Anyway, the some of the bottoms have wood that is on the way out. I noticed the seat backs are constructed with some kind of plastic frame and they are still perfect after all this time. I'm thinking that it might be better to use that same material on the bottoms too. Has anyone else done this? Would there be a downside? |

I rebuilt all of my bases in my '90 with plywood, using the originals as templates. I dont think they were treated or coated from the factory, so I covered them with epoxy resin and expect them to last a loooong time.
New Nautiques use composites for all bases, so I imagine that would be a superior fix. Your call as to whether the cost/benefit ratio makes sense! |
