Luch, ive been talking to Jason and advised him on the pump, he is wondering on the performance of the boat and was told the boat will absolutely not perform at all by his "mechanic"
I guess the question is, does someone have a lefty in a Southwind and what can be expected. I advised him that he wont see drastic changes and the boat will still perform but probably not to what he is use too. he also needs to re-prop and is wondering what would be the best prop for his application |

Eric, it's 3am here in my city, I just got back from a nightly river "pre new year's eve" party, went wakesurfing behind a Malibu at 2am, hahaha now I think I caught hell of a cold.
As to Jason's southwind... he just need to reprop with the 541 or 543 and index the oil pump. he'll never notice the diference. |

That's a V-hull and may not take the opposite twist as well as a SN hull. I'm guessing here from my own experience, and know that I've not been in a V-hull with the rotation reversed. |

Brian,I think he is concerned with the prop rotation causing ill effects.
They say the rh was intended to balance the weight of the driver but from my experience a ice chest is enough to throw it off so I don't think it matters that much.Just change the prop, index the pump and move your beer to the other side of the boat |

Guys....I had the trans off my right-hand rotation Southwind last winter when I did the engine rebuild. I didn't notice any kind of mechanical feature on the trans that would index it differently. Just curious...how do you index one of these transmissions? Do you have to take it apart??

No, you do have to spin the pump "index" to direct the oil flow for reverse rotation, it is just a matter of removing the 5/16"s bolts on the pump and turning it 180 degrees, look in the reference section or call me and i will walk you through it. Eric

Thanks Eric! I don't have a need to do it, but was just curious if it was an elaborate process. However, its good to know how to do it should one ever end up with a std. rotation motor.
