I am restoring my 1986 2001 and am not sure how to proceed with the upholstery. The dealer gave me a price of $2500 for new skins from the original templates. Is that a good deal. I can rebuild the plywood parts. I could us a boat upholsterer but want the best quality. Is Midwest Correct Craft out of business? I can't find the phone number.

I just re-did every piece in my 97 sport for 1400 bucks! The C.C. logos are easily duplicated by a stitch shop. All new upholstery is templated off what is taken out. Shop around, there are many very capable guys who need work at the moment in my town that were more than willing to beat C.C.'s prices.

$2500 is about right for the delux interior skins. Your dealer is most likely going through Christines (Nautiqueskins.com) which has the factory patterns. You may want to get a quote from them directly to confirm. They do good work and use the best materials- but theyre not cheap.

When rebuilding the bases, I would suggest covering the ply with CPES and epoxy resin for waterproofing.

Maybe my upholsterer charged me two installments...nervously waiting for second invoice!

I'm going to agree with Sephmu, shop the local upholsterers. Christine's, while good and "original", is waaay high when compared to what I was quoted from local shops. I took the interior (deluxe) out and brought it to a local guy. Total charge was $1500 and it looks like factory. Make sure you see their work first.

J. K.

Do not know in what city in IN you reside, if near Indy give Steve Smith a call at Smitty's Indianapolis Marine Ph#: 317-545-4646 or 317-547-6535. He has done my upholstery, road cover and cockpit cover.

He does most of the work for all the Indy dealers.

Im going to use Composite Sea Board. This is almost teh exact same weight as wood but will never rot. It is about 2.00 dollars more if you buy it in 4X8 sheets. But you will never have to replace of cover with CPES. Like I said this is what Im going to use with my rebuild.
