Wow, it's been a while since I posted here on CCF.. I can honestly say that I miss hearing from all you guys! It's been a ROUGH two years for me though, financially speaking. I got into an accident almost 2 years ago to the day, and it caused financial problems I'm still dealing with. Needless to say my 78 ski nautique hasn't been in the water since June 2008.. Last summer I tried to get her fired up, but quickly realized there were some electrical issues, and that what I know least about. This week finally I got the bug to get her to life again, and I started tinkering with her to see what I could figure out. Long story short, it doesn't seem to matter what I do, but cranking it over is like a burden no matter what I do. I replaced the battery, but think I went too low on cranking amps (650). I tried jumping it with a Ford V8 truck though with 1080 CA and that didn't help! Does anyone know what could be robbing my cranking amps? I replaced one of the terminal clamps on the cable and that didn't change anything even though the old one was in bad shape. I noticed my positive terminal on the starter was loose, but I got that tightened down, still no more cranking juice. I'm at a loss.. Any ideas?

FYI don't worry about telling me to get a new battery with more CA, I think I will bring this one back and tell them it's on the store people because they told me 650 was enough but I want 1000 now because it's obviously not enough, or something else is steeling juice somehow.

Jared..

New battery cables and go heavier 2/0. Check your voltage drop from the battery through the starter relay Solenoid.

Yeah I was looking at the cables as the primary suspect. Any idea where I could get them at a store with out having to order and wait? Would an auto store have them or would I have to get marine grade something?
