The dealer's mechanic suggested that I could take a water sprayer with medium pressure to the carpet with soap to clean them up. Then use a shop vacuum to take up the water.

Any better ideas would be great.

yea or just replace the carpet since you'll be removing some of it if you not carefull with the high pressure washer, leaving it in the sun uncovered helps dry it as well.

I have taken the boat to a Turtle Wax detail shop and had them clean the carpet. I think they did it for $50, and it turned out pretty good.

Now I'm using a Bissell Little Green handheld carpet cleaner that works pretty good.

I appreciate your comment on cleaning. I am trying to get a handle on the cost of new carpet.

I came real close to putting down some HydroTurf on a 91 sport that had been repainted and wasn't a "show" boat by any means. But I still feared being beat'n by the Tique Police.

Would it be against the law to put some down ?   It sure feels good to the feet. And it comes in some cool colors....    The diamond cut purple would look good in the purple boat.   The glue that comes on the back of the stuff is super strong.   I used some on my sissor wheel chocks for my camper to have rubber to rubber instead of slick alum. I had used the big sheet of it to redo the swim deck on the 91 sport. The stuff will take a beating and stay there.
