I have bead blasted my manifolds and risers. I am thinking of trying the POR 15 "Black Velvet" high temperature paint. Has anyone used this?

I have used regular POr15, and the stuff is amazing. Tough as nails.
I simply painted my manis and risers with high temp engine paint and it has held up very well |

I used rustoleum epoxy (non- high temp) paint on the manifolds 3 years ago & they are holding up ok.
POR-15 has good products, go for it! |

POR-15 will not come off your skin, no matter what you try, it needs to wear off. we had a kid painting a frame for us underneath and i warned him...he had paint on his face for a week.
i find the por 15 gets very brittle and chips very easy unlike an enamel, FWIW I find the TSC equipment enamal (22.00 a gallon) which also is made by Valspar is the best thing to use on anything from painting engines, transmissions, frames even trailers |

If you get it on you, use paint thinner or reducer within 10 minutes. After that it's toast
As for just POR15- it's not UV Resistant. You have to spray bomb something over it within 20 minutes. And yes we sell tons of that Equipment/Tractor paint at CarQuest. We have a local Valspar Company in town, that we sometimes have to frequent. |

Marty, you did not spray bomb over your manifolds/risers..did you? Just sprayed the high temp POR?
How long ago did you do it? |

Brushed the POR-15 Black Velvet on, and nothing afterwards. Did it before it was on display at The 51st Masters in May 2010. Since then, I've put about 60 hours on the motor!

I was thinking of reducing and spraying. Brushing is certainly easier...did you get brush marks?
