Camping/launching on Lake George..

Check the 2008/09 LG Reunion threads. There was a publc launch with decent parking. Kind of a zoo at pull out time. The thread may have info as to its exact location. I remeber it being right in the middle of tow at the end of the lake and a decent ramp. I'm sure someone else will chime in with better info,

Both of those guys have experience with that lake and i believe Joe has done some camping up there. Pretty sure you can actually get sites on some of the Islands. I believe they may be controlled by the state???
Beautiful place, the water is crystal clear . Flyin Bryan camps up there too, but im not sure how much he frequents this site.

Ive driven by those islands that are near bolton landing. They look like a lot of fun. Never stayed on one but definitely would. Theres a rock cliff basically directly across the lake from those islands that is a popular spot and a lot of fun for spending part of an afternoon

Camping on the islands is a very cool thing, the sites are great and reasonably priced. However, it is dominated by those who are semi-locals.. essentially people who pay to keep thier boats in a commericial marina all summer but upon arriving for the weekend instantly move the boat from the marina to an island for the weekend. Make sure you call around and get a reservation with one of the commercial marinas for a slip and a parking spot for the weekend, I do not know of a public launch where you can expect to find overnight parking for your rig. During the week this might not be a problem but during the weekend there is a large influx of population from the NYC/NJ area. The time I camped up there it was very late season and Fly'n Bryan had a hookup at one of the marinas in the bolten landing area that was key. You can reserve the island sites online, make sure you do so in advance if you are going to be up there in season.

Sorry I havent been on alot just saw your planned a trip the LG, June 28-July1st is there first week of vacationers coming up that way. Since your going to be staying up in Bolton, go to Northwest Bay in the morning depending on the winds I know alot of places to ski just depends on the winds. We go up July 16-23rd and ski every morning around 6am ish. We stay at a resort called Canoe Island Lodge. Been going for the past 28 yrs straight, they have always had nautiques and thats where I learned to ski and always said to myself I will eventually own a nautique. We bought our first in Summer 2007, which is the 85 ski nautique and we bought it from Adirondack Marine which is the local nautique dealer if you happen to have issues for some sort great guys and always willing to help get you back on the water. Let me know if you have any other questions I can find out alittle more detail for you.

Phil, thanks for the heads up on Northwest Bay.. We'll be there by the time the sun comes up and hopefully the winds work with us. I'm familiar with Adirondack, my boss bought an SN there about 5 years ago.. seemed like a great establishment.
