Have a set of 1996 GT40 explorer heads with rockers, in great shape ready to bolt on. When I bought them I was told they were rebuilt 6k miles ago. I have no proof other then they are very clean. I cannot afford a rebuild at this time so I've decided to sell. Would like to get $350 plus shipping. Thanks

FWIW, these should be gt40p heads and not std gt40 heads. That is a good thing. IIRC, the P heads were on every v8 explorer by 96.

No, the original poster is most likely correct. The P heads were a later edition on the Explorers- they came in mid '97. A 1996 would in fact have regular GT40's.

Tim, my p heads were from an original explorer that by the date codes that some swear by should have had std gt40 heads on it.   Mid year 96's had the p's. Typically, at least. The explorer from where I got my p's from was made in april, which wasbefore the typical believed first date of p heads on explorers.

Bottom line is that this would need to be verified, and until you either had pics, or could verify the number of casting lines we can't be certain if they are p heads or not.
