I'm curious to know if there are alternate engine box sizes for a 1993 Ski Nautique? I'm having a problem and am beginning to wonder if perhaps I just have a big engine box for some reason? Or maybe I don't have a 1993 engine box? It seems to fit the boat properly.
All you Nautique experts tell me, is this a standard 1993 engine box or is it something else? My box all naked, front view:

I looked in the reference section for 1993 the #2 pic (closed bow ski nautique)looks like the same shape.

And just for more help, here's what it looked like when I purchased the boat. Just realizing that I never really took a picture of the engine cover itself. This is as good as I have.

Waterdog - looks the same to me too. Makes me think that the problem is not with my engine box, but with a part I purchased.

I've got a hood like that. I'm going to mod it to fit over my Steath intake and a 1in. carb spacer( so I can keep the Silver Nautique hood stock) Need something off it?

Kapla, would you be able to easily and quickly measure two spots on your motor box for me?
If you look in the two shots below you can see I am measuring the seam at the front of the box and at the rear. I'd be curious to see if your 1992 box is the same. It would be a great help. This is the front seam right under the handle: mine is a touch shy of 16" wide here (sorry, the photo is upside down). 
This is the seam at the back of the engine box. It is about 24-1/2" wide.

Trying to re-skin it...... With a pattern or a skin to just cover it? I'll try to get ya a measurement Tuesday---since I'm on 4 hr days
Edit-- Yeap that's it. Just went outside in 28'F ,snaked under the cover, and measured! |

The skin is NOS from a dealer. It is original, the right one, and made for my 1993 (yes I have the correct one) engine cover. I got an email today that gave me some help. I found out that this cover is a b*t*h to install. It takes the shop three guys pulling to stretch it enough to install it correctly. So, I've got some exercise in front of me. I also need to purchase some slip film which will help a bunch. It is a tough one to install. I'm new to upholstery, so I picked a rough place to start. Goodie for me.

Warm it up in the sun or use a heat lamp. It should make a big difference. If you use a heat gun be VERY careful.

My skin is that exact same one. Didn't get it from N3, but that's it. Praying for some warm Seattle sun... Looking longingly at my wife's hairdryer. Maybe it's time for her to get a new one?
