I can't seem to keep my engine running.

I can get it to turn over, when i choke the engine and give it some extra gas, it's running at about 2500RPM, then it shuts off.

I had a galvanized gas tank that has a bit of rust in it, so i went and got some 91(didn't have 93) octane gas in a 2 gallon tank and have the fuel line feeding from that now.

I still can't get it to keep running. The fuel filter still has a bit of rust in it, should i clean that out?

Do I need to make some Carburetor adjustments?

Any help would be great, engine is a Chrysler 318

Also the fuel pump is brand new, he does has the fuel filter after the fuel pump though.

I figured, common sense would be to go

Gas Tank, Fuel Filter, Fuel Pump, Carburetor?
