Hey fellas, I know that having fresh, unused oil in the motor is important for the winter layup. Today is pretty chilly, got a wild hair after work and am wanting to change the engine and tranny oil today and put in some new plugs, however I am not winterizing yet with the antifreeze because I know there will be another weekend ahead that will we will be able to ski, or at least go for a river cruise. Does anyone see an issue with laying up the boat later with the fresh oil that will have maybe 8 hrs on it at the most? I know its only 8 hrs, but I'm pretty meticulous with the upkeep on our boat. She has 1200 hrs. on her now and runs strong as can be. Thanks

I didn't even bother with a oil change this year for winter layup since there were only about 10 hours put on my Tique. It was a really weird summer for me - the X55 didn't even get dropped in the water!! |

I am up to 25 hours on the SAN and about 20 hours on the Mustang since their last oil changes. at $9-10 per qt, I am not changing it for the second winter. There just is no need to with nearly no hours on them. Even at 50 hours is somewhat debatable but I do stick to that one.
What happened Pete? Wifey get horses? haha. |

Went ahead and changed fluids, spark plugs looked good, so I didnt replace those. Next is winterize her in a couple weeks and start the process of replacing strut bushings, packing, install new a.r.e. double taper shaft, and for the heck of it, gonna yank out the hull hugger and replace with y-pipe and go straight. Cant wait to see what that sounds like. I'll be in touch for some help in the near future. Oh, and of course an alignment. Thanks for the responses Mike and Pete.
