I have a '66 Mustang with the 289 engine and the throttle cable is corroded literally into pieces. The guy working on the boat for me has not brought me the pieces, but he describes it as being roughly 17' long, with barrel end connectors on each end. Any idea of a good place to start trying to track something like this down? I'm sure 16' would work, or any length within reason longer than 17', so I guess it doesn't have to be THE exact part. Anybody have any tips on who to call? Thanks for your help!

Tell us more about your throttle and shifter configuration... I have seen several different set ups on mid-late 60's Mustangs. Foot throttles, dash shifters, gunnel mounted shifters, gunnel mounted side controls (shift + throttle), console mounted, etc.
Also tell us where the cables are routed- some go under the gunnel towards the rear, down the wall and under the floor to the engine compartment. Others go under the floor and into the bilge. The configuration and cable routing will dictate the type and length of cable you need. Pictures would be helpful. |
