I have a 76 Mustang with 302 engine. I was thinking of replacing the carb because I always smell gas real strong and it looks a little wet around the back of the carb. What carb should I buy and where can I get one? I think the carb is the original but it doesn't have the J tubes and does have adjustable floats. Have they made any improvements in carbs in the last 38 years? If not should I just rebuild my old one?
Thanks, Shad

Welcome Shad. There was a time that a carb was a carb, don't know when the cutoff was but it's possible that yours came on the boat. If you want you could call Holleys tech line and give them the list number that is on the airhorn. They then could tell you what it is off of. 270-781-9741. If you decide to update, someone here has recommended these guy's,you would want the 450 cfm. New ones are around 600 If you decide to rebuild yours, these guy's have the best parts,Holley needles and seats have had trouble. You will also want to get a 6.5 power valve and maybe a power valve checkvalve kit

Rebuild the one you have they are not that complicated. Gary gave you the link to Daytona Parts, they can take care of your needs.
Thanks,

Jeff

Thanks, for the help guys. Ordered a kit from Daytona, and a J tube kit. They were very helpful.
