Hi all.
Since I finished the boat trailer I am now fiddling with the boat. I swapped out the dizzy that Hollywood sent me. Thanks again sir. I hit the key and it fired right up. Man that was nice. Thing is, my oil pressure sending unit was kaput, so I wanted to be sure I had oil pressure since I had issues with the oil pump shaft when doing the dizzy swap. I got a new unit, and put it in. Now, when I start the engine, the oil pressure says about 40 psi on crank, and jumps to the max when the engine fires. Also the Ammeter shows 40 amps charge, and has always done that. I fried the dizzy pickup running it before, and I thought it was a bad ground, but I fixed that, and with the new battery, and the new points setup, it still shows a huge charge. I am afraid to let it run like this... Lastly, when I start the engine it goes to almost full throttle, and no idle. The tach is not working so I don't know how fast its running, but I would say at least 2-3000 rpm. Any help would be much appreciated. Corey. |

Here is a follow up question....Do I have the right sending unit? I have the BWD s334.
Is there a specific voltage that the factory gauge needs to give a proper reading? |

It doesn't matter who you get the sending unit from BUT, the Ohm range needs to match the gauge. |

Thanks Peter. I thought as much.
Do you know the ohm range of the factory gauge? Have you replaced your sending unit, and if so, what part did you use? Thanks Corey. |
