Tim,
I see Delta finally made it to the #1 airline spot. Congratulations and I'm sure you had a hand in getting there! |

Thanks Pete...Didn't realize we made #1 as we maintenance guys as a whole don't keep up with that sorta stuff. Our job is to provide you, the customer a safe reliable airplane to get you from point A to point B. It's the rest of the point of contact people that have to deal with the customer face to face that sell and provide the service (bag smashers too) that got us there. Yeah, you need an reliable airplane that doesn't break regularly but sometimes that's the nature of the beast. We did just have a qtrly meeting with the divisional head that told us for the month of July we did NOT have flt canceled due to maintenance. That is unheard of as July is the busiest month of the year and with the summer heat engines tend to fail more often.
That being said, it's pretty obvious to me that we are the best the business in providing the best engine/aircraft/piece part maintenance available. ANY given day we are working on someone elses engine or aircraft. I see it in the paperwork and a walk out to the hanger you'll see a jet that ain't painted DAL. UPS, FedEx, Airborne Express, US Navy, AeroMex, just to name a few. Chances are that my hand or eye has touched the part of the engine as we see a part from just about every engine we use. Pretty cool if you sit and think about it. I do get an occasional text msgs from CCFans saying that are flying DAL, thanks for providing them a safe airplane and they would rather fly us then the competitor. The usual reply is thanks for paying my salary and thanks for choosing to fly with us. Well unless you're ReidP who chooses some other airline based out of Charlotte. Just one of the many contracts we have to work on. Pretty cool when one of these birds shows up. |
