hey there guys not new at all to the site so i am confident you can help me with me electrical hiccup?
got a newer 2001 sport with the PCM APEX 5.7 have about 20 hours on her with no problems. did a youth event last week ran 10 hour over the course of two days never a worry. Friday go to the river she lights right up and runs as usual withe the exception of the slightest miss on one accel..nothing to write home about. cruised around at low speeds for about 6 min. shut off to swim with the family.. upon startup again it starts runs for 2 seconds dies. i repeat this 5 times. check battery cable, cycle through the keypad... no difference..after about 8 tries she does nothing but crank over. i do notice that i am getting no whine at all from either fuel pump...i swap my ignition and fuel pump relay exact same thing... pull of the lake and head home. today upon further exam i pulled both fuel pumps including the low pressure and the fcc pump and they both run no problem on 12V.. upon further investigation i seem to have no power coming to either pump onboard. all other functions of the boat are alive and well. next step would be check the fuel check valve but i assumed the low pressure would still run even if it wasn't pulling fuel...any body have this issue or similar. could be something stupid. i am a bit new to the FI boat setup. |

Have not seen a wiring diagram for the GM Apex FI setup. But it would use a relay to operate fuel pumps. Check voltage at relay and activation circuit.
Take some pictures and post them up of rear of engine if you are not sure where the relay is located. |

How about your safety lanyard, did you check it?

I did have an issue with the lanyard same day so I pulled the plugs out of the back of the switch and jumped with wire until new one arrives. I assume that switch has to be a ccomplete circuit to run?

Yes, the switch needs to be in order for the fuel pumps to run.
I'm not actually not sure if the lanyard being in place (and allowing the fuel pumps to run) opens or closes that circuit. |

I'm also using the Ford GT-40 engine as a reference point, but I assume it's the same deal with the Apex motor.

Here's a shot of the rear of the engine. i have 12.3 volts at the relay on the left- it seems to calibrate the throttle body when i plug the relay in. the right relay i have 0 volts and cannot seem to find power at any of the wires on it. installed the new shut of switch today and it definitely makes a slight "adjustment" at the stern end of the motor when the lanyard is installed. almost like a priming sound. kinda stumped short of pulling harness apart... no fuses are tripped in the under dash panel. am i missing something easy? |

The relay with the large red and purple wires would be the ignition relay. They look to be the standard GM relays skidim has them. GM relays |

Just join the wires together temporarily to help diagnose problem. (The lanyard just open the cct when pulled or faulty) |

hey guys just to keep you updated. i was getting different inconclusive voltage readings from the relay so i ended up undoing the harness enough to see which wires were which to confirm continuity. ( some wires change color once inside the harness...- super fun). i ended up tracing it back to a strange looking plug that (dummy) ended up to be a small fuse block with a 15a/10a/15a in a row. never new about this in any of my searching or owners manual troubleshooting. two were blown.
i replaced the blown fuses and cycled the key. immediately the fuel pumps ran for 1 second and the 15a for the fuel pumps blew..after further investigating the low pressure fuel pump was drawing to much power due to old age or dirt particles or whatever. have a new one on the way from skidim. also checked anti-syphon to see if that was causing a harder pull but fuel flows smoothly. the high pressure pump seems to be running fine without blowing the fuse. should be water ready by the weekend, thanks guys for the input! |

Jim that link is for the Ford GT40 engine it is in the reference section of this site.
Caleb has the much rarer GM Apex FI engine. Have not seen a wiring diagram for it maybe contact PCM and see if they can help. |

It is for ford and gm engines. The gm carb and efi diagram is I the link. That manual I linked is not in the reference section. Ignore the name of the file and read the cover page. "For all Chevrolet and Ford Based Engines" |
