Manifold replacement GT40 bolt selection

I am contemplating what is all needed to replace the manifolds on my 2000 Ski Nat. The boat was used in brackish water before I purchased it and the Allen head bolts on the manifolds and rusted away.

I see you can get a kit with all the needed gaskets and bolts:

However I have seen posts on this site and others mentioning they used stainless steel Allen heads (obviously with anti seize). I was wondering this was standard practice?

I bet I have to drill out just about all the bolts, fun, fun!!

Any advice will be appreciated.

There are kits but just so you know that one is for a Chevy. You can get what you need from other locations for much cheaper if you look around, ie the riser to manifold bolts are nothing special. Reuse the water fittings,get new pipe plugs at McMaster Carr when you order new manifold to block bolts. Most here will tell you to stainless and anti seize. You will see why when you try to remove the old as you already guessed

I used Grade 8 bolts from FastenAll and it worked well. Get the gaskets from NP or Skidim.

I had to drill out one Allen-head bolt and then use an Easy-Out. I went with the SS bolts and anti-seize / anti-gall Permatex.

Sorry for the confusion. Thinking while typing can be bad...

I used Grade 8 bolts on the risers and stainless Allen head bolts on the exhaust manifolds. I originally got long riser bolts from skidim, but they were Grade 5 and I twisted one off at 25 foot pounds of torque. Yes, I was using the anti-seize, but I didn't expect the bolt to fail. I looked at the calcs for Grade 5 but didn't take the anti-seize lube into account. The Grade 8 units worked well.

I bought the Allen head exhaust manifold bolts from skidim and they were stainless.

Wow, sounds like the Chinese bolt syndrome! It's amazing the difference between the dry and lubricated specs. A lot of the OEM manuals list only the dry. Besides the old method of using the Machinist Handbook, It's easy to find both specs on line these days. You're not the only one who has forgotten.
