And you wonder why some people won't do business with you?

I could have used that steering wheel. Those center caps are impossible to find.

I'm not sure I have a problem with this. If both the original seller and original buyer are happy with the $25 price, where is the harm? Is someone obligated to tell the seller he can get more? He got what he wanted. And if the buyer feels he can get more, let him give it a shot. I remember some time ago, someone on here advertised something for sale and another member replied. We know what you paid for that, and you are trying to sell it for more. The guy making that comment has been known to buy and sell stuff here as well and I am sure he doesnt do it out of the goodness of his heart, but to make a little along the way as well. Isnt that kind of the whole idea of flipping boats?
Capitalism. MAGA. On the other hand, if someone like Adam wanted it and was going to use it and could get it for $25, yeah, I think that should get priority. Not sure how much value we have to put into "first come first serve" Now I am doubting myself....... |

Depending on where its sitting, typically anywhere from 8 feet to 450 miles to the right of the existing steering wheel. The hub on my dad's 75 broke years ago and he replaced it with a CC cap that he doesn't mind but I've always hated. |

I bought some stuff from Marty a few years ago for a Tique which I no longer have. Am I supposed to sell it for what I bought it for (which I don't remember, but someone on the site sure does) or what I can get on the current market? I think it's a slippery slope calling out folks for upselling.
I dont't get who bought what....if there is only one steering wheel available in the world and it came from CCFan.... what the timing was, etc.... it's all nothing that I was involved with and just makes me jump to conclusions......another slippery slope in which there is no benefit. The buyers on that post are both guys that supply and buy a lot of parts to the CCFan community over the years. There are some wheeler-dealers on this site and most folks understand that and know who is who. Sometimes a wheeeler-dealer is a go-to guy when you can't find parts.... so there are uses for wheeler-dealers. I totally get Hollywood's point; I hate seeing my stuff go on eBay after I JUST sold it to someone.... so I don't sell to them anymore. But as Larry said, it's up to the buyer and seller to figure out what makes sense to each other. After that, its not your stuff anymore to dictate what folks do with it. |

I think that some people post things for sale to members cheaper than on ebay to
#1 -- help out a CCFer, and #2 -- save on transaction costs. I don't agree with buying on CCF at a cheap price with the intent to resell it....unless nobody here needs it. Definitely buying something with the intent of having a spare is okay. Years later selling it for market price seems okay in my book... |

There's no stopping a lurker from trolling this site, or any other for that matter and making an opportunity purchase. Cash in hand rules even amongst fellow members. Pm sent seems to be the brotherly rule.

So I feel I need to address this topic since HOLLyWOOD seems to be the CCF police and had made some negitive remarks towards my name and character. I was the purchaser of the wheel for $25. It was $20 to ship as well. When I received the wheel I found it to be nicked up and scratch on several points around the wheel. I had a mint used wheel that had a hub that was nice but not as nice as what I had just paid $25 for. I swapped some parts out and made mine a little better. Funny thing is that it's about the third wheel I have done this to make an almost mint wheel.. I bet I have about $300 in this one wheel buying and swapping to make it mint. Many people sell this type of wheel on this site for $100. I have seen several for sale over the last year. I wasn't trolling to get this and make a profit. I was kinda pissed it was all beat- but so be it.
With that being said- as someone mentioned I was the first to say I was interested. The person was offering it for $25 so I bought it ( with the intent of keeping it). Decided to sell- that's how things work. You wouldn't walk into Walmart and say hey I think I should pay more!!!!! I have helped out countless people with gauges and rare parts for what $ I have in them. I have many friends on this site who can vouch for me as being a stand up guy. I certainly don't need to be called out by hollyweird on being the moral and ethics monitor of life. So let's review. I have $45 in it. I have it listed for free shipping. ($20) eBay fees for $10 PayPal fees of 3% so I MIGHT make $20. I can reduce the price by $20 if it would make everyone feel better if I break even. Total crap you would take the time to write a post like this. |

Rod, I am pretty sure I ended up being the beneficiary of your generosity (through Kroundy) I ended up with a nice copy of the original 1994 owners manual. Just wanted to say Thank you!
Seems to me that if an issue arises with another upstanding member, it would be good practice to try and reconcile by PM. It would sure avoid potential embarrassment/hard feelings for both parties. |

Thanks for the kind words. Yes there are more appropriate ways of dealing with something like this. Funny thing to this whole story is I have never met or spoken directly with this person. I know I have never wronged them. Strange how people feel they need to act this way. Doesn't surprise me with some of the comments a few members have made in the past. Wasted enough of my breath on this. Didn't try to wrong anyone or steal something. It wasn't up to my liking so I decided to resell. Simple as that. If anyone who sides with Hollywood- I'll be happy to sell it for the $45 I have invest and shipping. Hope this puts everyone's mind as ease. Maybe we can all focus on climate change ,world peace, or your own problems. |
