This should be fun/
Taking the crew to the Cape via DC.
Three days in DC with Cam-17, Ian-15 and Kaitlin at 13 plus my poor wife and downtrodden self.
What is your game plan if you awoke screaming in my shoes?
Jesus was a bare-footer.............

China town for dinner one night
Walking the mall after dark (seeing the monuments/white house at night is impressive)
If there is time ask your representative for tickets for touring Pentagon and capitol building
Old town Alexandria for dinner one night
For a low key activity the national cathederal is amazing and very close to the zoo
Just riding the metro is cool

Smithsonian is awesome and educational. Take your time through it to enjoy. The Holocaust memorial is very interesting and moving. Believe it or not, my teens were very impressed with it, and spoke of it often afterwards. Very educational. The Vietnam wall and the WW II Memorial also. All free too. Great food around DC too. You can make this a great experience for them. Enjoy!

The Smithsonian has an air and space museum, near Dulles Airport, that is much bigger
than the one down at the Mall.

Three days goes pretty quickly in DC. If you walk around the mall; visit a few of the smithsonian museums (all free); do the capital tour (general tours everyday, you need permission from you congressperson to see the chambers); Supreme Court; Declaration of Independence/Contstitution; go over to Arlington; walk by or tour Ford Theater; Walk by or tour the white house - that's a pretty full three days.

Taking in a Nationals game is pretty cool.

That middle son sounds like a handful.
