My Uncle passed away and I purchased his 1965 CorrectCraft. It is 16' but I would really like to identify the model. I will attach pictures. The engine is a Ford 289 by the casting #.
Thanks to anyone that can help. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

There are no 65 mustangs in the 65 brochure, but there are a ton in the diaries, so it could be a mustang, or Star Flite, which is in the 65 brochure, but they are as scarce as hen's teeth. So I will go with mustang. Dash emblem is gone, looks like the boat may have been painted, so the emblem might have disappeared then. Look for a serial number plate with a letter or two and then a 3-4 digit number. Starts with M, its a mustang. SF its a starflite. Pretty sure that scoop is somebody's add-on.

That's a pretty cool find either way. Does it run?

65 is second on the list of most produced Mustangs, beaten by 10 in 67. Possibly could be an American Skier too but I think Larry's got it.

The starter was not working. Just got it rebuilt, but have not got it reinstalled yet. Since it has a 289 my bet would then be a American Skier. My uncle moved to Florida in 1968 and then relocated to Georgia about 10 years ago. He got the boat while living in Florida. He has said that its first home was Cypress Gardens. The ski pull is gone and that is one thing that I would like to reinstall. Any idea where to get one like original?
Also I have looked for a manufactures plate, but no luck. Any hints where to look. |

Marine engines didn't go the same years like cars,my 69 originally had a 289 in it.If it was a AM it might even had had a 260 in it. A rarer boat would be one that was not used in Cypress Gardens

I'm with Gary. The Mustangs typically had the V8's and most of the Skiers had 6's. |

Cool acquisition! I am no expert, but it looks like the steering wheel is from a Chevy Vega??
As far as the Cypress Gardens history, you should ask Donald80SN, as he is the site expert in this matter. Good luck with it, and welcome!! |

Neat little boat.
I had a '66 (parted-out, all over the US) Nothing on the top deck is original parts. (edit: except for the windshield) (just sayin', not being critical...it's still cool.) So, later on, if you decide you would like to locate some original parts, I have an original steering wheel and original lifting rings. Sorry I don't have a pylon for ya. |
