I’m trying to decide on what kind of cover for the boat. I found a vinyl coated canvas waterline cover that looks nice and durable. Clearly no breathing—-but I usually air the boat out before covering or uncover it soon after if it’s still damp.
Has anyone who owns one of those shiny cover found it regretful enough to want to stay with regular premium Sunbrella or equivalent canvas? I’m leaning toward the waterline in any case due to hull sun fade issues Here’s a link to the cover on ski-it-again Ski it again waterline cover |

I had 3” tall mushrooms grow out of the carpet with the last non-breathable cover I had.
Go sunbrella imho. Edit: if it’s for a MC then a non-breathable cover is fine. |

Tim, now we know what happens when you eat those mushrooms! You start to have an uncontrollable craving for horsepower. Seriously though— with my sunbrella cover the carpet was always damp after a rain anyways. It would dry out when the sun came out and it did breathe well.

Sunbrella will leak if not supported properly (pooling) or if the water repellancy wears off. Can be reupped with fabric guard (303) and it’s good as new again.

By the way I'd get the waterline cover that you linked from ski-it-again. Skip has been in the inboard business for over (50 years and if he sells it you can be sure its first class.

Yeah. I did buy the 197TT. The budget and my German tightwaddedness kept me from going for a 409 powered 200 which simply could not be found in my comfort price range. I got a super deal on the TT. I ain’t leaving this forum where my friends are and if things work out in 5 years I’ll have my 200.
