Hi guys, I just picked up this 1984 Ski Centurion completely disassembled with a Pleasurecraft 351w and velvet drive, trailer, etc.... the guy was going to restore but just doesn’t have time. I picked it all up for 500.00! I think I scored as a parts boat for my 1983 Nautique 2001. Does anyone know if most of these parts are interchangeable? I assume they are but wanted some insight.

Might want to check if the Centurion used a Reverse or Standard Rotation engine.
Most of the off brand ski boats ran Std Rotation.
Centurion was one of the first to have the pretty gel coat graphics.

You may have figured out by now that the Centurion engine is normal rotation compared to the reverse rotation engine in your CC.

A little site searching will tell you the differences and what parts are the same and what parts are different.

A quick not necessarily complete overview of the "different" parts would be

The starters rotate in different directions

The camshafts are different for the different firing orders so the camshaft and lifters that are broken in to that normal rotation camshaft can't be reused for a RR engine

The distributors are interchangeable as long as you swap the distributor gears. If you don't swap the gears you'll quickly figure out that it won't fit

The raw water pump is the same, but gets mounted upside down .

The circulating water pump is the same . It's bi-directional on the 80's engines

The transmission is the same, but the pump on the front has to be reoriented , there are plenty of confusing threads about this on CCF.

Crankshafts from 83 on were one piece rear main seal so they should be interchangeable along with the blocks, heads, oil pan, timing cover, cooling system parts, carburetor, bell housing, engine and transmission mounts etc.

In other words, you have a lot of spare parts there.

The props are obviously different too

Like I mentioned earlier do your research...............and mark the starter in big bright lettering saying that it's the wrong rotation. It'll turn the engine over backwards and it'll never start.
Lot's of people have been bit by that when getting a new starter

Thank you sir! Another Correct Craft guy on Facebook told me this....

You can build a left hand like like a hot rod. Every available upgrade for a street engine is available for your engine.. but not so much for reverse rotation.

Seems like it might make sense to hold on to everything and maybe consider an engine swap if I ever want to tinker a bit...

That one simple statement has angered the CCF RR faithful more than you could ever imagine.

If you even mention thinking about normal rotation you'd better lock your doors and barricade the windows 'cause there's an angry lynch mob heading to Wisconsin right now

I'd hang on to everything myself

You never know what you might need in the future and parts are getting harder to find. The no longer available thermostat housing is just one example of that.

Tell the angry mob that it's your boat and you'll do what you want
