I am looking for some tips on installing a paddle wheel for Perfectpass. I did several searches and not finding much.
It seems the most important step is identifying the correct location (Saw a post that recommended magnets). Then drill a pilot hole. Is it best to drill using a 2: hole saw? I read a thread on PN to run drill in reverse, which does not make sense to me. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Tom |

Running drill in reverse helps prevent the teeth on the hole saw from grabbing the surface fibers fiberglass and scarring from slipping. On the start of the hole run drill in reverse the “etch” the hole. Then drill forward halfway. Go on other side and drill reverse to start hole, then drill forward.

And any hole you drill when your done countersink it like this \ / rather than just a straight hole I I it will keep the gelcoat from developing cracks that will radiate out from the hole

Forget the paddle wheel install and go with Star Gazer / GPS. Very easy install.
