When i got this boat there was no ball valve and some plastic elbows on the intake, the hose is 1 1/4 but the cooler is 1 inch and so there is also a hunk of hose on the cooler that the 1 1/4 hose fits over.

I want to put the perko sure flow on for flushing between the ball valve and cooler, first thought is to put a reducer on the ball valve and use 1 inch from the intake to cooler i have 3 more feet of 1 inch wire reinforced hose and that will get rid of the hunk of hose that i'm sure didn't come from the factory.

What was there  originally and if reduced, where and how.
The choke point in the transom assembly on alpha bravo volvo omc makes me think reducing it at the intake should be ok but i've never seen 2 different intake hose sizes on inboards, they were always the same size straight thru and out of the sea pump.

Thanks

First test ride yesterday was rained out shooting for sunday at first light

With a PCM 351, it's 1 inch all the way.

You have the thru hull fitting, a 1 inch NPT 90 degree elbow with a 1 inch to 3/4 inch NPT reducer and then a 3/4 inch NPT nipple screwed into the reducer and a 1 inch ID hose fits on the fits on the 3/4 inch NPT nipple.

I'd post a picture but right now the site won't let me Wink

It says there's not enough disk space

Thanks keno,
I'll reduce it coming out of the ball valve tomorrow install the 1 inch and order the sure flow.

I've been uploading pictures on another site blue hi lighting everything and clicking copy is how i've been getting pictures over then editing the narrative if need be.

This site is great and there's a wealth of obscure knowledge that would be an otherwise head scratcher.
Only thing i wish i could do is clear out the picture download to make finding the pictures to post easier.
(I deleted my sd card on accident and now have to rename every new picture or the site says that file already exists so copy drag drop click is faster for now).

Here's a picture copied and pasted from an old thread showing the elbow and the reducer on a mid 80's boat, but yours had the same setup (minus the strainer)

well, I guess that didn't work  Wink
