Going to look at a 1970 Century Mk2...Just wandered if anyone knows anything about these boats and if they are somewhat reliable?
It has a 318 chrysler with v-drive in it and is in very good shape! What's it worth? |

the first boat i owned was a early 70's Century with a v-drive, that was 15 or so ...sh*t 20 years ago. dont remember much and wake surfing just started and we used it to ski and tube, i think it had a Ford 302 in it. from memory it seemed like a nice sturdy hull and what killed it was a ski line got caught around the output shaft of the trans at full speed, we left the filler piece between the seats out, and the tube was on the engine hatch and it sucked it all the way in and popped the tubed, luckily nobody's body parts were in the line. we didnt winterize that winter and that was the end of it

Decent old boats.Bit short tend to submarine if not paying good attention when coming back for down skier.Steep shaft angle makes them a bit slow but good power

I don't remember the Mk2. They are well made boats. My brothers, and I bought an '80 Resorter in 1980. My brother still owns it. It is still a nice boat. It's been moored all summer since 1980, and has never had any rot anywhere, which amazes me.

I also remember working on a Century Arabian it was a beauty, it had a arch and midship mounted engine, it was up there on one of my favorite boats, a woman owned it and wouldnt part with it for anything

This thing is in Really good shape!!
Still has the original decals and low hours. Also has a brand new trailer underneath. The guy i think is the original owner an very anal about the boat.....for example.....he had dated everything on the motor with a label maker when it was replaced.......Motor looks like brand new......will find out tommorow if he will sell and final price? Oh .....The boat is red with black stripes and the interior has black seats.... |

Century made really nice inboards. Here's an old pic of our Resorter. At the time, I thought their quality was a lot better than a Correct Craft, but they definately did not handle as well.
How about some pics? |

My neighbor has a red 70 340 mkII than I work on for him.
Too much iron the rear and too much bow rise for my taste, but its a cool boat. Porpoises some. Lots of potential. Doesn't steer for sh*t. PITA to set alignment. BTW, no 1970 new-to-you boat is reliable. A full going through is required then you still may be surprised. |
