David, Since you have said that you broke one side, I'm assuming you have the flat safety glass. I ask because CC started using the curved plexi on the plain Atom around 54. The glass was kept I believe 1 more year on the super delux only. Can't you get any help from you local glass shop?

Yes - it is two pc flat. I am talking with glass companies, The Wooden Boat Shop (Saylor Park - suburb of Cincinnati- Jack tells me I probably would have to have both side made to match and then try to find an original.) I just broke it this am when installing - don't ask! Could have cried!! Boat has been in the family since new! Almost done - Murphy lives!

Any help appreciated - Thanks - Dave

David, Jack at the wooden boat shop is correct. You will not find original glass. Take the good side to a glass company.

Tell me more about the boat. How much work are you doing to it? Do you have any pictures?

The boat has been in the family since new - my stepdad transfered title to me in, I believe, 1997, since the lake we live on required the title to be in my name or not allowed on the property.

Somewhere around 1966-67, when I was in the Army, my Brother and Dad refinished the boat.It was not out again until around 1983-84 after my parents sold their business. If correct, the hour meter shows around 60 hrs since then, or late 60's . I brought the boat out here in 1997 and pulled it in the Fall of 2001 to refinish.

I have been in muscle cars/street rods and used to detailing - not my brother and Dad - my Dad was a master mechanic.

I have redone the bottom red, black water line, white sides, refinished the top with six coats of varnish, redone the dash and now in the process of painting the floor.Redone the upholstery with original Oxblood - but I did roll and pleat with white stiches. No work needed on the engine other than I rebuilt the carb/fuel pump/ fuel tank/and lines in 1997 - motor & drive train original - checked compression and not needed. Only non-original I am aware of is the horn (original was a siren {which I have} and was replaced with a "trumpet horn" due to Coast Guard requirements. The 6 volt was converted to 12 volt in the late 70's by a marine company in Florida. I still have all the original to convert back. Trim tabs were added in the early 80's. I have all original motor manuals, titles etc.

I lack painting the floor, installing the motor cover and now - replacing the windshield.

Wow! It sure sounds like you have a great boat. I'm so glad that you are putting the time into it. Which engine is in it? Gray, Correct Craft (Chris Craft) or the Universal?

Engine is Gray Marine Model 620 - single carb, 60 hp. At one time we had a dual carb set-up and an extra engine my Dad found. When I cleaned out his warehouse they were not to be found - along with a lot of muscle car parts I had stored there.

Hopefully, I shall be 99% finished by the end of this weekend. Then I can start on a 1957 19' Luger with a big block Pontiac engine. Boat is in really good condition - just needs some detailing and re-wired. Wiring is a mess!!

I picked it up because I am into GTO's - will name it "H2O/GTO" - humor!

I recently had glass cut for our Chris Craft by a local shop. It turned out great. It was pricy, though. Around $300 for both pieces, done in safety glass with the entire edge polished.
