I have the plumbing on my motor to run it with a garden hose attached. I also know that a raw water pump can be put on up side down. So, that leads me to ask if it is put on up side down, and i am running my motor with a garden hose attached, will water run out the bottom of my boat where the water pick up is? That is, does the water run backwards from the raw water pump to the pick up under the boat? I just replaced my impeller and have the pump back on correctly, but I was just curious.

Bill, The hose you what to connect your garden hose to is the one going to the pump from the pick-up. With this disconnected, you will no longer have a connection to the boats pickup so, no you will not get water out the bottom. If you have the pumps suction and discharge reversed, you won't get water to the engine ether.
