I have a mid 1960's Graymarine 4-75. It has the Capital gear system. Reverse works like a charm, but under load in forward position, the clutch slips causing the engine to race along with loss of forward momemtum. If I lean heavily on the gear lever I can gain some traction in the clutch.
I have tried adjusting the drawbolt on the clutch, and have even tightened to the point of beginning to strip the head of the drawbolt, but I can't seem to get the lever to 'snap' into forward position. Has anyone out there had a similar problem or has any ideas of either adjustment or repair? Thanks. SM |

Other than kicking the kids out of the front seat ... did you come across a more 'mechanical' solution
