Cleaning pond scum

I agree 81. I have acquired a lift. I am just waiting to see if the one on Ebay goes or not and if I can handle the 14 hour drive to go pick it up. After seeing it yesterday this bad boy is living on a lift.

And yes I am sure the 81' will fade after the first pull. After doing some boat dealer, lot driving yesterday I already am forgetting about the old 81'

Well I just happened to break down at an airport about 2 hours away from my new boat. I got a car and ran over. It looks brand new accept for the hour meter. Absolutley perfect. It is all the same color Maddmarxx. It appears orange in the pic but it actually that dark yellow you see on hummers. Very nice looking color. Can't wait till next week. It feels like Christmas and I am 10 years old.

tk-421..that is a nice boat, but I have to ask you, why it is orange and black on the outside and yellow and black on the inside?

I've heard a 50/50 mixture of Lysol toilet cleaner and hydrogen proroxide will remove all stains and not harm the gel.

nice. when is the last time that 81 ran? the engine looks a bit neglected.

I bought an 81' about 6 years ago with the idea of restoring it to like new. A 2 year old and one on the way has taken all my time and I finally decided I would never get around to fixing it. After lots and lots of pleading my wife allowed me to get my 2004' 196, a dream come true. This is my perfect boat it has everything I would have wanted and NOT wanted. This will be our boat for life. It is in mint condition with a brand new trailer as the owner kept it at a marina on a lift.

I have found a company that sells the free standing lifts for $2500. I think it is time for more pleading. I really don't want blisters like my 81' and Hobie cat have. We live on a lake so they sit in the water for about 5 months/year.

I think I can get about 2K for the 81' so that will pay for most of the lift.

The lift is a bargain! Advances have been made to prevent blistering but it is still a problem. It's the reason you will see any larger boat that sits in the water even come from the factory with bottom paint. A good bottom paint will also include a epoxy barrier coat/primer.

I'm not big on hull cleaners, but I've heard people are happy with slimey grimey as well as on/off.

A good quality cleaner wax and a bunch of rags will take care of it too.
