I just took the allen screws out of my steering wheel turned it 90 degress and put it back on. Guess the newer models don't have that option?

As far as the "tuneable rudder" goes, that adjustment is for how much pressure you want on the steering while going straight. If your boat has any "pull" to one side or the other while going in a straight line the tuneable rudder can be adjusted to either eliminate all pull or put it to one side or the other as you prefer.
Adjusting the tuneable rudder would only have a very slight if any effect on the actual position the steering wheel is at (12:00 O'clock, etc.) in relation to the rudder itself. |

read the manual on how to adjust the rudder that's why it's tunable.

D2 - If you just want the steering wheel to be at 12:00 when the boat is going straight (a reasonable quest) then what you will have to do is to get under the dash, loosen the nut where the cable goes into the Helm control. Rotate the steering weel & simultaneously pull the cable out (It's greasy) Feel closely for when the cable is no longer engaged by the internal sprocket. At that point you can rotate the wheel freely to change it the amount it was off. Push the cable back it to re-engage it to the sprocket & rewind it back in & retighten the nut.

Chris is trying to give you a analogy with the comparison to automotive steering. If you adjust the tie rod on a car, it will affect the position of the steering wheel. If you adjust the rudder on a boat it will affect the position of the steering wheel. It's as simple as that. Sorry you didn't pick up on that. |

Are you asking me or trying to help? the reason for the post was to get a answer, not two questions. Is there anybody with a newer boat that can help, or with a better explanation on the tuneable rudder or how much it can correct?

isn't the wheel attached to the rudder right?
you don't move the steering wheel on a car you move the tie-rods so why wouldn't adjusting the rudder adjust the steering wheel's center? |

While driving the boat (03 SS) in a straight line, the top of the steering wheel is pointing about three a clock. Is there an adjustment under the dash? There seems to be some kind of adjustment but im not sure. I looked in the owners manual and the adjustment is for the rudder.
