Take the motor box out of the boat. All you have to do is lift higher than the stern and pull the boat from under it.

I had no problem using an engine host to remove the engine in my 1979 ski nautique. You just have to have the chain short. Removing the intake well allow you to shorten the chain enough and extending the boom on the host should give enough room to clear the gunnel.

Vande_v I took 4 10 foot 4X4s 2 6foot 2X6 and a 10 foot 4X6 and made a gantry. With the 4X6 as the cross member and 2 4X4s on each side with the 2X6s as stabilizers. The total amterials was aroung 60.00. You sandwich the 4X6 with a 4X4 on each side of it at each end of the 4X6 Then at the bottom of the 4X4s you bolt the 2X6s accross the 4X4s like the letter Pi. This keeps it from rocking back to front. Get 18" of chain and a boolt and loop it over the 4X6. Attach a comealong or chain hoist. Hope this helps

Hey all, I need to know the height required to lift out a 319 chrysler engine from my 69 barracuda. What clearance height i need as it looks as a car engine hoist will not clear. If anyone has rigged anything that will do the trick so i can get it on a engine stand i would love to hear about it.

Thanks all!
Mac daddy...
